"Nupur."
I turned around. There was no one in sight except the lone cat in the corner. But I had heard a familiar voice calling my name. I shrugged and went back to press the button for the elevator to come down. Who the hell was holding it for so long? Need to complain to the apartment secretary.
"Hey Nupur."
The roaring engine of his bling red SUV stopped. He came out twirling the keys in his fingers. I tried to get my dropped jaw back to its original position. Too late , I failed to see the signs of the day with the elevator stuck up. It couldn't get worse with him being here.
"Hey. Did you forget your way back?"
"I very well remember your place. Was just passing by so thought to catch up with ya."
"You shouldn't have bothered at all. What wrong can happen to me?"
"You aren't picking my calls for the last three days!"
"I was busy in work."
"A text would have taken…hmmm…..less than 30 seconds out of your busy schedule."
"You have seen me now. Satisfied?"
"Why are you taking my words in the wrong sense? I felt as if you are ignoring me."
"If you have already jumped to conclusions I don't see the need for debate."
"I am not being judgmental. What's up with you girl? You don't seem okay."
"I am doing fine."
"You look sick. Take care of yourself."
"There is nothing wrong with me!"
"If something is bothering you I am here. If you feel you can share."
"Are you done?"
"Last thing what's wrong with you today?"
"Nothing!! No wait. Actually everything is wrong with me. My mood, this place, the timing – all are wrong. I am puzzled to see a right guy wasting his precious moments of life amidst all wrongs."
"I was asking in general. Can't see the reason what I did to piss you off."
"How can you Mr. Right? It's me who's always wrong."
"I really think you need rest."
"Just stop bothering me. Okay?"
"I thought we were friends now. What I did to deserve this?"
"You can't do anything wrong, Mr. Right. It's me at fault."
"I can't believe it! ...No you can't run away like this."
"Let go off the stop button you idiot!"
He had pressed the button to stop the elevator which was finally after eons on its way down.
"I was waiting for the elevator since the past 10 minutes!"
"Waiting 5 more minutes isn't going to bring in a catastrophe. Tell me what wrong have I done!"
"Don't ya understand English? Let me say it slow. I am FINE. You can't do anything WRONG. Just stop poking your damn nose into others business. And let go off the button!"
"You know something. You are right. I was wrong to think you are my friend."
He inched closer. Instinctively I stepped back. He removed his fingers from the button which was holding the lift to ransom in a huff and walked away.

I entered inside my room banging the door en route. I picked up my cell. 11 missed calls. I had already seen them. I flung it on the dresser out of my sight. The mirror cracked. I groaned.
I do not have the supermodel body that men lust after. Good the stupid mirror cracked. Tired I slacked into my chair.
"What you have done with the room? It's not the same anymore."
"Liu you are back! Well that's nothing. I just missed my target. So did you get him?"
"Nupur I searched the entire downtown market at Chinks. Sebastian is out of town for few days."
"Oh no. Are you sure pining all to him is a good idea? We are uncertain of his return."
"I was told he'll be back in the most two-three days. Nupur he's an expert in all this hacking stuff. Plus we don't want to get caught in legal tangle. He can take care of all the hassles."
"I m tired of unable to control things the way I want. What if he comes late or backtracks? It's just so hard to see that moron Morgan back in the hospital. I hate his look. I need to do something ASAP."
"Dear have some patience. You were holding up so beautifully."
"I am sick of being nice to people if they don't reciprocate."
"Just a few days more. Surely you can wait. Anyways you are ill or what? Your face is so pale and you have got saggy eyes. These days you are so quiet in the hospital too."
"Good lord NO. I am totally fine. I think I could have handled this better on my own."
"Oh..I didn't know my help was not needed here. Sorry to bother you then."
"Liu…I didn't mean that…I am…."
She picked up her bag and walked away through the door.
"….sorry…….."
Right walk away from me! Everyone just leave me alone. I am destined to be a loner. I don't need anyone. I opened my laptop to search some good hackers but I was lost. Nothing made real sense to me. It was no use.
I snuggled deep into my pillow. I tried crying myself to sleep. But sleep evaded my company too leaving me all alone to stare at the blank ceiling above.
