Part 143: Muwaaa
Lechu was walking towards the phone, seeing that radhika's heart stopped for few seconds. Before she could say something, she saw Lechu lifting that receiver towards her ears. As if she is going to listen to bomb blast, Radhika closed her both ears and turned and waited for that moment to get over with, and to avoid any spark into her eyes she closed her eyes tight, and waited; everything went dark and silent in her.
Radhika heard her heart beat again, she opened her eyes slowly, and then taking that courage she slowly turned to look down , and found Lechu standing still with the receiver in her hand, held loosely in her hand. She just watched that scene for dew seconds, and her gaze altered as she heard Sammy's voice "who was it?"
Radhika took few steps back towards the wall to hide from the scene.
Sammy still sitting near Chudki: Lechu
He called her again, and then looked at Chudki who was playing so happily all this time, went serious.
Sammy got confused and asked the little one: what happened? You also became so serious, u?
CHudki slowly lowered her leg and rested them on the floor, and then seriously looked down as if trying to drag sammy's attention to Lechu.
Sammy in a playfull mood, to chudki: what? Then looked at Lechu. And then looking back at Chudki: is it our tiger? Um, is he asking her whether I am here? hu? what you think? are you giving me any warning! I told him that I am coming to meet you here so no problem, even if he come early, i will hold you in my arms and stand, ...sachi, I told him.. or is he telling her that he will be back home late, very very late after the meeting.. he he he.. . Seeing the serious look on chudki's face again : kya huva? Why everyone is so silent now. Lechu
He called again for no answer.
Sammy getting up from the floor, looked at chudki: one minute, ok
He walked near to Lechu , surprised to see her standing with that receiver still. Sammy getting near her, tried to take that receiver away
Lechu looked at him, Sammy noticed the pale face of Lechu, and going in surprise he asked: Lechu, you ok?
Lechu just blindly looked at him
Sammy: lechu, who was it
Lechu just nodded her head
Sammy: what happened?
Lechu didn't say anything
Sammy: is that was dad?
Lechu just nodded her head in disagreement
Smamy: then who was it?
Lechu stood still in ?
Sammy: did that person say something?
Lechu nodded her head in agreement
Sammy: what
Lechu stood still again
Sammy losing his patience, shook lechu's shoulder: Lechu, are you ok
"what happened Sammy, who was it?"
Sammy looked at Suchi who was coming with hot tea cups in a tray
Sammy: don't know Mom, Lechu is not saying anything
Suchi tightening her forehead , went and placed the tray over the table and walked towards them
Sammy looked at Lechu
Lechu: who said I am not talking, then suddenly bursting out, walking towards the table: who has this much guts to give me that
Sammy : give you what?
Lechu: vo, but then paused for a second, looked around once and met her mom's confused face, raising her voice to the highest: vo mom, how dare is he?
Suchi stood stunning, looking at Lechu's storming walk towards her,
Lechu nearing Suchi: MOM
Suchi: what?
Lechu: vo
Suchi: vo kya?
Lechu stood... went in pause, Sammy looked at suchi in confusion. Radhika slowly walked into the scene
Lechu walking towards Radhika: bhabhi, do you know that
Radhika: ha , I know with a confused tone
Lechu widening her eyes , ran towards her: you know it?
Radhika just nodded her head , trying to avoid others stare
Lechu: who was it?
Radhika didn't say anything, but walked towards her baby
Lechu thinking for a second: is that , then as if recognizing the voice: IS THAT.. and then looked at Radhika who was standing looking at her, with an affirming look at Lechu
Lechu stood still watching Radhika walking away with Ruhi
Radhika as if taking their permission: vo, time to change her nappy saying that she paced faster back into her room.
Suchi: what is it LEhcu?
Lechu sat back on dining chair and unknowingly extended her arm to pick that hot tea
Suchi: lechu, I am asking you something
Lechu taking a sip: ooouch, mom, this is tooo hot
Suchi trying to pull that chair back to sit: ha, it is hot, I just made it, but what I am asking is, what is that just happened?
Lechu trying to ufff out the burn from her tongue: what?
Suchi: Lechu
Lechu: what
Suchi: who was on the phone
Lechu: mom, my mouth is burned after sipping onto this tea and you are asking who was on the phone, you are always cared about your son only, see it is so painful for your daughter, and sitting so closer to you and you don't even care
Suchi looked at her blindly and then picking the tea cup in her hand, looked at Sammy: this is she, what I am asking, what she is saying, you only ask her ok, let me check in the kitchen for dinner. I am askign what happened to her and she is saying i am cared about my son. Saying that she walked away.
Sammy slowly sat back next to the chair, near Lechu, and watched her doing Ufff uff again and again.
He picked one tea cup and slowly sipped on it.
Same time in Radhika's room
Radhika: what did you do? How many times I told you to check before giving it?
Dev on the other end with a smile, played innocent: giving what?
Radhika: vo , then after a pause; you are always like that only
Dev: vo, vo what?
Radhika getting back to self: did you call now on our home number
Dev: who me, for what?
Radhika got in confusion: didn't you just call?
Dev: where?
Radhika's words soothed: didn't you just call here, and
Dev: here, u mean your cell, but you didn't pick it.
Radhika: not that, to home number, to talk to me?
Dev: RAdhika, why should I call you on home line, if I need to talk to you then I call you on your cell, you know that
Radhika: but then
Dev controlling his laugh: then what? I am not understanding what you are saying? What is it Radhika?
Radhika: didn't you get my call?
Dev: you called me, when?
Radhika: don't tell me it was not you? I called on your cell, and you did pick it up, and then you called me back
Dev pausing for a second: ha, buva told me somebody called
Radhika: buva!!!!!
Dev innocently: ha, what happened Radhika, when I checked back, I saw your number , so I called back on your cell, but you didn't pick it up, so I thought maybe you are taking care of our angel, so thought to call you later
Radhika's heart paused for a second, she forgot to breath for a moment
Enjoying her paled face in his mind, he called out: Radhikaaa
Radhika didn't say anything
Dev: Radhikaaa
Radhika: hu
Dev: you want to say something!
Radhika: hu, nothing
Dev: Radhikaaa
Radhika: hu
Dev: can I get my huk now
Radhika losing all the sense at that time: I will call you back, ok
Dev: one minute Radhika
Radhika: ji?
Dev after a pause: I love you
Radhika: hu!
Dev with a smile: you can give it later, but I can't wait to give it to you Muwaaa
Radhika's eyes gone wide, while dev disconnected the line and kept his smile looking at the flow of the river and thought in mind " why Radhika, why you are not hearing this nature's voice, why you are not listening to the splashy water , why you are not hearing that bird's song, I am surrounded by all that, but you, you just blindly truested my words that buava took it" he looked at his feet where the little fishy just tried to kiss on.
Back in Radhika's room: it was him who picked the phone, and even Lechu..., but what actually Lechu said then?
She went to pick Ruhi in her arms, she noticed that high voltage smile on her face
Radhika: what happened? Hu? Why this smile, then after pausing, oh...did you hear your papa's voice, ye, that was for me , not for you.
Ruhi kept that smile
Radhika : oh, so are you trying to tease me now? Hu? That your mom ...
Bu then as she picked her daughter, her nose just shrinked once: oh dear, so the smile was for this, i thought you are also teasing me seeing my confusion.
Radhika went to change Ruhi's diaper.
Same time down at the dining room
Sammy sipped onto the last drop form the cup, he looked at Lechu: lechu, now the tea is cold, try it
Lechu: I know
Sammy getting more closer: just tell me what was that?
Lechu: what was what?
Sammy: that you heard on the phone
Suddenly remembering back, lechu: see, my Bro is still so romantic
Sammy: what?
Lechu: ha, he is missing bhabhi so much
Sammy in a confused tone: I didn't get it
Lechu: what?
Sammy: what are you really trying to say Lechu?
Lechu: see, bhabhi is here, and Bro is in chandenpur and you know
Sammy: I know what?
Lechu: that missing
Sammy: what missing?
Lechu: vo
Sammy: lechu cool down, and tell me who called and what did that person said
Lechu: that only I am saying
Sammy getting up from the chair: lechu, please
Lechu getting up from the seat: ha vo tho Bro
Interrupting her ,Sammy : lechu, please, don't come back to Bro and bhabhi now, I am aksing about that phone call, which made you stand still like that
Lechu : that's what I am trying to say, even I got shocked , who have that courage to give me that, but when bhbhi
Sammy : Lechu please... I am asking what the phone call said, nothing else
Lechu looked at Sammy unbelievably, and then calming herself: you want to know what the phone call was about?
Smamy: ha
Lechu forwaded her steps towards Sammy, and her nearing made him to take steps back, she asked again: so you want to know what exactly said in that call?
Sammy agreeing , stepped back: ha
Lehcu: so you really want to know
Sammy: ha and he paused as his back touched on the wall.
Lechu coming more closer: so you want to know what was it? And just that, nothing else?
Sammy in confused tone: ha ha ha
Lechu: tho suno
Within fraction of second, her face moved closer and she placed her lips over his cheek with a loud : muwaaa
Sammy stood in freeze position, while lechu pressed hard on his cheek with her soft lips.
Time ticked by along with Sammy's stopped heart.
Suddenly his heart started pounding faster, he thought it is going to come out like a rocket, breaking that iron bars of his rib cage, he tried to bring his voice out loud, he tried to lift his hands up, but all went in very imbalanced state that his eyeballs just spring out.
And his inner mind called out: vahe Guruji, reksha karna
Breaking the kiss, lechu moved back slightly, and then looked at sammy's flushed, shocked face, she smiled looking into his unbelievable eyes, and she said softly with a smile; this is what the phone call said.
But then feeling that shyness, with a smile she ran away from there, without even turning, facing that wall, along the side of it , to the kitchen.
Sammy couldn't move his feet , he stood still, his eyes were still fixed on that open space of front hall, and was just seeing the real tiger's shocked face in front of him , he didn't hear Lechu's smiling sound, his ears were filled with so many questions that was aiming from the tiger's eyes, he didn't see her shy gaze or blushed cheek, all he could see was that stare.
"so you are early, Sammy told me that you maybe coming late because of some important meeting, but see" saying it Suchi walked towards the front hall open space
Sammy took a relief sigh
Surrender walking in
Suchi: So Ruhi is playing well around, that you came leaving your meeting
Surender: vo, at the end minute the meeting got cancelled.
He broke the stare from Sammy, and walked in more
Suchi: I know I know, you only might have cancelled it, right?
Surender untying his tie, said: so only I got to see the real intention of people around , right
Suchi: what?
Surender: nothing, where is Ruhi?
Suchi looked up and found Radhika coming down with her baby
Suchi: there she is , all getting ready for her dada
Surender smiling wide, went and took Ruhi from Radhika's arms
Suchi: atleast wash your hands
Surender: I know you will say that, so I washed my hands prior to getting into the car itself, see it is all clean and neat, then smiling wide and looking at ruhi's smily face: your dadi these days acting very doctorly here, tell her this is our home, not a hospital
Suchi: she knows that
Radhika; let me get the tea papa
Surender: ha, beta till then my chudki will say what all happened in my absence here.
Sammy's mouth went dry again, and thought: what do I do now? Will I stay, or, I better go, or how do face him again, this Lechu bhi na, she should have just told me, who told her to, but then pausing self inside: what , who did that? Who kissed her on the phone. Let me ask her. He paced towards the kitchen, but then paused as if an unknown energy of questioning eyes were falling on him, and he turned and looked at Surender: and found his half way smily face looking at him...
Sammy stood straight in confusion: is he teasing me, or is he questioning me, or is he giving me permission
He looked again for clarification and thought: oh my, he is not a tiger, he is more than that : why he is thinking it is me, oh God, it is she who kissed me, and all of a sudden you appeared in front, and I was unable to tell her that, now what, why he is smiling at me, definitely it is not a tease. Who cancelled that meeting at this last minute????
As if reading Sammy's mind , Surender: whoever it is, any problem you have?
Sammy jerked slightly and nodded his head in disagreement
Suchi: what?
Surender sitting back on the sofa: nothing , Sammy is asking who canclled the meeting the last minute?
Suchi looked at Sammy and met his disagreeing node
Suchi : when? I didn't hear it
Surender looking at the little ones face: ask him, he just asked, maybe you didn't hear it
Suchi looked at Sammy, Sammy again nodded his head in disagreement
Suchi: aap bhi na looking back at Surender
Surender: you ask my chudki , she will tell you whether he asked or not...
Sammy tried to look at Chudki's face with an expression of ' you too chudki'
Sammy in mind: but who did that, he looked back at Surender one more time and then taking that courage he went into kitchen
Radhika: lechu, what is it? Why your cheeks turned so pink? You ok na
Lechu was still smiling, thinking about the past time, and was blushing hard
Radhika: lechu, who was that on the phone
Lechu didn't pay attention
Radhika while putting the tea powder: Lechu, who was that on the phone?
That time only Sammy came in too, he saw his Lehcu standing as if she is in a dream. Suddenly the moment flashed in his mind, unknowingly he rubbed his hand over his cheek, he was about to blush but then from the main room he heard the loud giggling sound of surrender, who was trying hard ot bring that giggle out from Chudki's throat.
The blood drained away once again from his cheek and he was walking near
Radhika: lechu, who was it?
Lechu in dream: Sammy
Radhika went near and shrugged her shoulder: Lehcu , I am asking who was on the phone
Lechu: what? But then comprehending herself back into reality: ha, you only told me it was Bro.
Sammy coming near: so it was Dev, no wonder you were blabbing how romantic your Bro is
Lechu: ye, don't say I was blabbing you were only kept on asking me na
Sammy: for that, you should have told me straight , who it was , instead
Radhika: instead what?
Sammy rubbed his cheek again and unknowingly the blood was rushing back to give the color, and he was feeling shy..but he herad Suchi's voice " is tea ready Radhika?", and then looking at Sammy " dad is looking for you, you are in kitchen?!!!
Samm:; oh dear mother in law, please, now you also don't join this gang, ok. I am already in midway to heaven
Suchi: what?
Sammy: nothing
Suchi: then dad is waiting for you, he wants to talk to you something
Sammy walking out: then it is not mid way I am nearing the gate, I can clearly see the heaven in fornt of my eyes, oh God, what a family
Suchi took the tea cup in hand and walked away
Radhika: Lechu, is that was him for sure
Lechu: I doubted first, but then when you confirmed it, I was sure, it was Bro only. Bhabhi, I tell you, I never thought my bro is this romantic, but tell him next time to make sure who is picking the phone
Radhika stood in confusion as Lechu ran away from there.: so it was him, he was playing with me, I thought he is in tension after hearing everything, and he is. ok let me see
Radhika passed her family, heard surrender asking Sammy about calling his dad, and found Sammy's paled face. He looked at her once , as if asking for support, but then saw her walking away not understanding his plead.
Radhika called his cell
Dev: hello
Radhika: listen to me, I am standing in our room, leaning back onto this wall, the color has changed , but somewhere it is you who is all around in this room, and i can feel you so close, and i knew it, you are still waiting for me... and the next second she softly said: muwaaa
Dev smiled and kept back the cell in his pocket, and radhika stood there leaning back onto the wall behind that door flap, and her lips were shivering imaging his face very close...
