Please, petition gurus, along with your petition to save Geet, please send out petition to every Indian household not to watch Star Desh! It is obviously a channel spearheaded by someone immensely thick, who thinks its better to scrap a youth channel to cater to the mainstream. Points to note:
1. Majority of India's population are the youths - so Star One was a unique and clever strategy
2. There are hundreds of mainstream channels already - please koi to humein in Saas-bahu sagas se bachao...please!!!!!
So, what are the prospects of Star Desh? Strategic analysis:
1. Same ol same ol type of channel - will have nothing new to offer
2. Cannot beat Star Plus for saas-bahu sagas
3. Likely to end up sidelined just like Imagine TV or Colors shows
4. Will be shunned by the hundreds of avid viewers of shows like Geet/PKYEK
5. Will lose the loyal youth audience who would instead go on youtube to watch old episodes of Geet (I know I will)
6. Will lose advertisers of products targeted at the youth like mobile phones etc (BIG mistake)
I am sorry, which set of dunderheads thought it was a wise idea to follow this strategy?!? Obviously, you've missed a few elementary lessons from your MBA classes (of at all you have studied management or media studies of any form). Ok, I know its their channel, so its their decision, but I am still entitled to my opinion...they are complete DUNDERHEADS!!
