Anandi regains No. 1 spot in 'Characters India Loves': Ormax study

According to Ormax Media's eighth edition of the quarterly study 'Characters India Loves' (CIL), Anandi ('Balika Vadhu') has returned to the No. 1 position on the list of the most favourite character on television, and Ram Kapoor from the recently launched 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain' on Sony enters the chart straight at No. 5.

Anandi had occupied the No. 1 position since the inception of CIL in August 2009 till its fifth edition in September 2010. She returns to the top after a gap of 10 months. Jethalal (Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma) and Akshara (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai) are at No. 2 and 3 respectively. Priya from Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (Sony) enters the chart at No. 10.

This eighth track of the study was conducted during July this year. The interviews were conducted among 3477 respondents in six cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore and Jalandhar, females and males in the 15-44 age group, SEC ABC.

The report lists the top fiction and non-fiction characters across gender, age, SEC and market segments. Further, a section of the report illustrates reasons for likeability of the top characters.

'Characters India Loves' is a quarterly study to measure the popularity of characters on Indian television. The study has been created and conducted by Ormax Media, India's first research and consulting firm specialising in the media and entertainment industry.

Yes!! And some people were saying TRPs are high due to the character of the ''keep''.😆

I always said people were more concerned about the fate of Anandi and her pain. I've seen women cry for her while watching the episodes!

Kudos! Anandi will now stay #1 for a long time when she becomes a great social activist and is no longer just limited to a laadli bahu or beti!😊👏

One more thing! I hope CVs see these reports and focus TOTALLY on Anandi and give her her due as the lead of this show! Instead we are tortured with that spineless philandering boy, his mistakes, his realisations, his views about life, career or love!🤢🤢 And tolerate over-focus on his mistress - her career, her so-called pain, her insane outbursts or emotional blackmail of principal or landlady!😡

Arrey even Sonpari was better where at least the lead character Frooti always was focus of attention! Please give us viewers MORE of Anandi, full focus on her!

Why the hell do we have to tolerate Singhs or Ja-Ga?! It should be 80-20 rule. 80% episode ought to be SOLELY about Anandi and rest 20% could be about Singhs or Ja-Ga! In fact we have had many episodes which did not show Anandi at all! Full episodes dedicated to Shyams, Sugnas, Jagats, Gauris, Bhairons, Teepris. I hope we get to see a glorious day when the WHOLE episode has only Anandi and is unadulterated by presence of other side characters!

For God's sake, the makers of this show make promos about Anandi, they made a huge deal about Anandi every time, even created nationwide poll when they were about to choose new Anandi. Now please give value to viewers and let them actually see the character which you use to attract them into watching the show!

Or instead change the name of this show to Bal var (since it is all about that slimeball Jagya only!) or Singh Parivaar ki kahani!😡
