In a parallel universe...

In a parallel universe somewhere, lets say there lived an honest (gasp!), non-shifty eyed Jagya, who told the truth to anandi and his family at the beginning of his romance with gauri -- do you think that anandi and bhairon would have paved the way for him by giving him a divorce/helping him getting a divorce?

If Jagya had told the truth in the beginning (before the five year leap), Anandi might have been the one to understand and move on. I think the family would still have reacted very badly, divorce is not well looked upon in rural society, and they would have tried to get him to leave Gauri for a while. But tempers would have cooled down much faster, at least a few people in the family like DS might have weakened to Jagya. Right now no one in the family is ready to support him because of all the lies. If he had been truthful from the start some one was sure to support him. Anandi would probably have supported him also.

I think then 5 years of Anandi's life would not have been wasted.

If Jagya would have been honest from the start with his family and Anandi things wouldnt have gotten so messy for him. Anandi would have still been hurt but eventually Bhairon would have supported Jagya if he had felt his son has been sincere. Bhairon and Jagya could have then even made some arrangements for Anandi and Jagya could have legally married Gauri.
But Jagya's actions stem from Maasa spoiling him and the environment he has grown up in where wealthy men can get away with anything. Jagya wanted to enjoy the benefits of being the son of a wealthy family. He thought being Maasa's ladeshwar he would patao her and she would force everyone to accept his decisions and continue financing him. Anandi being the gawar she was would be responsible to look after his grandmother and parents in their old age since she cant go anywhere. While he can enjoy marital bliss with Gauri in the city while living off his parents money.
Maning up and taking up responsibility is not something Jagya has been taught to do.

bhairon would have been upset but then his hands would have been tied , woh chahke bhi jagya ko kuch naa bol sakta
thats what i have not liked abt the haveli ppl, no one blamed him for playing hide n seek for 4 yrs

jagya loved anandi and he was not kid when she came both consumated also and he left anandi to study for 5 yrs he just ditched her. what agya did is totally unethical and when he can't take one relation forward how can he opt for second illicit relation in our culture . luv is something a corrupt concept for this man it is a lie he is quoting as luv. it is in india that people are so confused about luv and now modern luv is anew concept if u find someone else u can say former that u don't luv her such people just misguide thier life and ae left emptyhanded just waste in life
