I will be posting another thread about how unbelievably deliciously complicated an emotional upheaval ASR was going through today but I wanted to ask a question about one specific thing that happened.

Let's not concentrate on the how it happened (Clark Kent yet again took over ASR's body) but what he did. Khushi and Devi Maiya take a tumble. ASR saves the idol. Why?

We have been told by Arnav that he doesn't believe in the religious rasams nor does he do anything for God, so why does he save the murti? I have believed that Arnav is not an atheist. He grew up in the same home as Anjali until they were thrown out. His foundation in religious faith is there. I believe that like everything else faith based - goodness in people, faith in God, goodwill - he has turned his back on it because it did not help him when he needed it most. But again, as we have seen with saving Khushi, his first instinct, that thing which is gutteral, not contemplative, he reaches out to save the idol to prevent harm to that which he holds dear, even if he won't admit it to himself.

Now, whether he holds DeviMaiya dear because Khushi does or he once upon a time did and that belief still quietly lives remains to be seen. I think it's because he does.

Another question that comes to my mind is, does it matter whether an ASR that loves Khushi believes in God or not? For Khushi it may - but for Anjali, she loves her brother unconditionally. For me I don't care if ASR believes or not, because as long as he respects Khushi's belief and like for Anjali, does things for her and not her God, it is okay. Because honestly speaking, it's okay for a husband/significant other to decide to worship his wife. 😉

lovely post.

I believe actually he saved Devi Mayaa's statue because he knows that Khushi holds it dearly and is a devotee of Devi Mayaa.

Similar to how he immediately extended his hand to prevent Anjali's Diya from blowing out. Irrespective of how he feels regarding religion, that was something he knew his sister believed in it strongly and therefore he would do everything to ensure the light was on.

Otherwise in office, despite having a Devi Mayaa statue, he does not respect or light the diya.

It begs the question though, why have it in the office? That is his space to do as he wishes.

Maybe it was a gift from Naniji or Anjali since when they found out that someone had light a diya for Devi Mayaa statue, Naniji was pleased and said that something good had happened, knowing that there is a statue at work.

I think deep down, the boy does believe in god but is just angry at the perception that god had let him down.

I think both the factors played role here . Arnav Saved the devima idol because deep down - he has been taught this as a bad omen and also because he knows it is very percious to Khushi .

I dont know why but i always felt that somewhere deep down Arnav does believe in God but is angry on him for making him face horrible situations in life. He did not actually lose faith but just lost trust that God will never be kind to him.
There is no reason for him to keep a small place for Devi maiyya's idol in the office when he doesn't even care about such things. And he came to the mandir for Anjali's sake but he even attended the aarti, i know he even did this for Anjali's sake but he could have still said No, i will wait outside. You guys do the pooja and Anjali could not have stopped him. I'am saying this coz i have seen such people. There r lot of things in the show that symbolize that yes, this man does believe in some power.

Him catching the idol was quite symbolic. He does believe in it, it's like he does not, but he believes that if his belief is known to people, they will consider him weak and he is NOT weak.

Saving Khushi was qute interesting esp the tarzan jump cracked me up, but it was good. He saved the idol more than he saved Khushi.

I don't believe he is an atheist. I belive he lost having faith in god due to his painful past. He does't hate Khushi because he saved her so many times. ASR knows Khushi is loyal to her DeviMaiya and he respects her faith. Bottom line is he is developing this feeling for Khushi...

it's a mix of his own faith deep down & Khushi
I think he still has belief in religion, but he feels like religion let him down & he cant find it easy to believe it
& also because he knew how much value Khushi holds for Devi maiyya
I have to say Arnav's bounds & leaps make me laugh, it's always in a James Bond style!

Bottomline..
I think..two reasons...
The first and foremost..it wasa gut thing ...The thing Khushi holds near and dear..is dear to him..so Devimayyia must be saved..IMO..and it was completely instinctive and I don't think he has even realised this
and maybe unconsciously at the back of the mind is the fact that he did believe in God and now it is becoming more clearer ..it seems as if he is waking up from a daze..again I believe it may be partly Khushi's influence..
I hope it makes sense but a heavy duty post Anu..😛
