| Manish Goel joins the celeb activist brigade! | ||||||||
| Who said that actors were all about their glamour quotient - here's an actor who wants to make a difference. After Aamir Khan, who raised his voice against the politicians in the Narmada Andolan case, it's Manish Goel who has decided to take up the psycological problem of school going kids.
Manish, who was in Delhi a while ago holidaying with his family read about a girl committing suicide. The girl was studying in Father Agnel's, the school from which Manish had passed out. This upset the actor as he realised that the school was ill-equipped to handle students with psychological problems, and had no means to help the girl through proper counseling. "It's the question of India's future; one can't play around with it. I thought of taking up this issue as some one had to. First, it was restricted to introducing counseling in schools, but now my point is to introduce psychology as a subject. I am not saying that it has to be a theory subject, but it could be on the lines of value education or something of that sort. It can also be an extra class after school or a weekly subject," points out Manish, who himself is worried about the future of his young son, Aryaveer.
The actor also raised the issue at an HR College where he was invited to judge an event. "I spoke to nearly 200 students and all supported me. Not only that, many students came up to me and said that we shall protest, but I turned that down, as I feel an issue of this sort can be sorted out in a more sensible manner," points out the actor. Later Manish was approached by the HR representative and asked to bring out this issue in the Interact Program, a meet of school principals before the school reopens. Manish has already had a word with the principal of Delhi Public School, where the MMS scandal made headlines and Bandra School for girls in Mumbai. Manish, after quitting Bhabhi on Star Plus has taken a break from work and is utilizing it in the best way ever! All the best, we say!
