Ever since the Pottar's were introduced in the show, Santosh was shown to be a strict woman- not only with her looks, I'm talking about her attitude towards her children and family in general.

Well, do ya'll folks think it is wise to do that?
Is she right by not allowing woman to work/study after marriage?

In general, the world of today, do you think not working is acceptable?

Let me know of your responses, and there after I will update mine.

*PS- this is just something small to make the forum come to life! 😳

Lots of love,

~ Sonia xx

i think santosh is wrong, there is nothing wrong with women working, here in the west we work & still look after the house & family. education is better for the family.

It depends on situation and personal choice...if the girl is educated and ambitious she should work...and if she happy being a housewife she can remain tht...we cant generalise everyone in one category...

I'd have been okay w/ Santosh had all the bahus in the family been women who had no ambitions, and simply wanted to become housewives - and same for Komal. But that was not the case. While Komal wanted to do modelling, her devrani wanted to do computers, and I'm not sure what the others wanted to do. But if Santosh was this strict, she should have ensured that her sons all married exactly the type of girls who agreed w/ her on this from the get-go, not those who got converted to it after marriage.
But given that that's not the case, I don't blame anyone for being resentful. Shikha's initial reaction was actually logical - she thought that if Sarika is allowed to study, all the other bahus would have more freedoms as well. And I'm totally w/ her on that - I thought it inconsiderate of Santosh to return something that Shikha had bought b'cos it was on a Thursday.
But I do hope the show doesn't turn the other bahus into vamps if Santosh doesn't examine the fairness of her actions. What Dadi said was a load of crap - that difference b/w modelling and being a doc. Is this show trying to say that becoming a doc is the only thing a married woman has a right to be, and other than that, her place is in the kitchen? If that's what it is, it needs to fail, and fail badly.
Ideally, the other hubbies, like Shikhas, ought to stand up for their wives like Jai and Rakesh. Komal should call Rakesh and leave, and tell him that she doesn't want to have anything to do w/ her mom, and just sever ties w/ her. Then, w/ Rakesh, she can do whatever they agree on, and be much happier.

I defend your point and think the same!

In fact, I believe even Garima and other daughters-in-law should have the permission to go ahead with their education.

Thank you for such an encouraging response Vrish.
I appreciate it.
& I will be back with my POV as soon as I get the time to right it down.

i can see wer santosh is cumin from 2bh n i dnt fully disagree with her...its a tradition of her in laws tht has been continuing on since 25yrs obv they wud b hestitant in bringing abt a change in2 it...bt i feel in the case of sarika becos she has the passion for both studying n housework...she shud b given the chance 2 prove herself... as sum members mentioned times hav changed nw n one shud move forward with time n giv the next generation the opportunity to explore themselves n stand up on their own feet... at the sme time giv thm the upbringing which teaches thm 2 never neglect the responsibilities of ur hme and family life

i agree with nikarika_n
if any daughter-in-law wants to study she should have been allowed but if they are happy with households thats their choice but i think its wrong to not give permission to those members who do want to study

Santosh strictly told Jai that the ideal bahu will have to be a housewife in the beginning and he went against that.

Komal wanted to be a model,Choti ma wanted to do computer stuff which actually surprised me.At the moment it's not looking bright for Sarika, she can't do assignments and housework at the same time.

Women should be allowed an education and work if they want to.Sarika's original rishta wanted her to continue with studying and were willing to make allowances with housework.

Jai should have been more truthful than lie to her.He expected her to forget her dreams of being a doctor thinking that she would love married life more.
