Naushaad Saab, regarded as one of the greatest music composers of Indian Cinema, a man whose story is literally that of rags to riches, a man who carved a place for himself in the hearts of his million fans, all over the globe, he who gave playback singing in Indian Cinema a whole new dimension.... He passed away on 5th May, 2006, leaving a void in the hearts of music lovers, a void which can never be filled by any other.

Who can forget Mere Mehboob, full of urdu shayari or the completely classical Baiju Bavra. A man who was equally at ease with Shayari as well as Hindustani Classical or devotional songs.. or romantic numbers. Uran Khatola, Mughal E Azam, Mother India, Andaaz.. and countless other classics, and the most recent Taj Mahal

Join us at India-Forums.com in paying this legend a shraddhanjali and remember the days of the past, the music of the era gone by..... at Retro Cafe, on Wednesday, 17th May, 2006.

Please write in your memories of the legend. Please write in which of his songs was your favourite. Please write in the one story of Naushaad Saab which touched your heart and which cemented his place in your heart, forever.

In memorium,

Naushad Saab was definately a legend and his presence will be missed greatly in Bollywood. 😭 My Favorite songs by him are: Mere Mehboob Tujhe Meri Mohabbat Ki kasam, Mohe Panghat Pe, and all songs from Pakeezah! He has composed soo many great songs that its hard to choose just one. May his soul rest in peace. šŸ˜”

Naushadji was definetly one of the greatest music composers ever in the history of Indian Cinema, and we will always miss his beautiful music.
Some songs that I greatly enjoy of his are: Chalo Didar Chalo, Inhe Logon Ne (Pakeezah) and Mohe Panghat Mein (Mughal-E-Azam). These are not the only ones, but there are too many to list! 😊

Can't wait for the show! 😃

He composed great music during his time. Many of his films were hit. People used to look for the Music by Naushad. His composition of Mother India was the best.

Awww so sad that you never ever heard of him or his music.........it's a great loss to any Hindi music lover....no matter, you can rectify it right away 😊. Just tune in on wednesday and learn about the maestro first hand !!

I love all his compositions, but the following are simply timeless:

Utthaye jaa unke sitam, dhondo dhundo re saajna, hum aaj kahin dil kho baithe, nain lad jayi hai, chalte chalte yuhin koi mil gaya tha, and of course, pyar kiya to darna kya from Muglai Azam.
