Sanjay on the road to absolution
In STAR One's prime time show Yeh Ishq Haaye, Manjari's life was haunted by her past even after her reunion with her family, when she had to face her ex-boyfriend Sanjay who, back then, had pretended to be a rich dude, Ranbir.
Her romance with him led to Manjari running off from home to be with him, but he ditched her, and she found solace with her good friend Akshay. Now, Manjari has come home for her sister Puja's wedding and, after great difficulties, her family has forgiven her. She was initially shocked to see Sanjay mingling with her family and his yearning for her forgiveness, but she has now forgiven him completely. We speak to Manjari and Sanjay about his new changed attitude.
Sanjay caused Manjari a lot of heartache, humiliation, and loss of reputation. Now he seems reformed and armed with a humble attitude, repenting his past deeds. We ask her if she has really forgiven him? Manjari aka Shristy Rode replies, "Yes, I have. I found it tough to believe that he had changed, but I saw his behaviour and attitude towards my family and his helping nature, which led me to believe that he had truly changed. He has my family's favour, and they told me about all the good things he has been doing for them. Of course, when I saw him for the first time, I was stunned. The man who ruined my life had the guts to walk into my home - that was the thought that crossed my mind. I was angry, furious, shouting and screaming at him. I wanted to slap him for the way he treated me, but I didn't. Then gradually, I found out that he had changed and become a better person. I have given him the benefit of doubt and have forgiven his misdeeds. I have accepted him as a friend, but nothing more. All the love I had for him is gone."
Does she really think it is possible to forgive and be friends with someone who hurt her so much? "Well, it is difficult, but not impossible. I have seen the changes in him, so I have forgiven him. He has apologized to me over and over, which didn't affect me at all, as they were simply words. But his actions spoke more than words when I saw the way he treated my family and helped them," she claims.
Sanjay aka Rahul Arora is looking for absolution. "I have asked for forgiveness time and again, as I am regretful of what I have done in the past. My goal is to see Manjari happy with her family. I want to pave the way for a better future for her. I hope these actions will rectify my past mistakes. I changed after my sister's suicide, which led me to look at life differently. I felt my past caught up with me, and gave me so much pain in life. I am feeling a little better after helping Mr Chaturvedi with Puja's wedding preparations, sorting his house problems, and taking care of things. I am glad Mr Chaturvedi believed in me and accepted my help. When I met Manjari, I was apprehensive about her reactions. I knew I had hurt her a lot, and was ready for anything. I am her culprit, and I regretted my behaviour. Thankfully, as she has a large heart, she forgave me. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for that. Today, we are friends, and I hope for no more. However, honestly, I still have feelings for her. But I am not expecting anything. I just want her to be happy and settled in life. I will do anything to make that possible," he vows.
In the upcoming episodes, Manjari's dad will express his desire to see her married. He will ponder over Sanjay and Manjari's match. He will talk about it with his family and Manjari too. Will Manjari agree? That remains to be seen.
Don't forget to catch Akshay, Manjari and Sanjay in Yeh Ishq Haaye every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, only on STAR One.
