umanity had ceased to exist. It had been defeated by the stronger kinds, the Vampires, the soulless monsters. Happiness, in a moment, had vanished, and all the remained was misery and bloodshed. No one knew precisely of how it started, but its effects was disastrous. It was a battle between the vampires and the humans. They tried the defend themselves, but lost. She was one of the victims-daughter of Shashank and Padma Gupta-it was a miracle that Riddhima had survived. She did not know how it all began, but knew how it had ended. With her parents and a brother, Riddhima was forced to separate themselves from the population in order to survive. Human beings were being kidnapped and slaughtered like cattles. A few lucky families like the Guptas had managed to escape the monsters and seek shelter. She didn't know how it existed, but it did-in the middle of the dark forest they spotted a cave on the side of a lake, away from the city. It was a stormy night when they had found it. She had almost given up, too tired to running away. All she wanted to surrender and end it all at once. A single ray of hope seemed to engulf all the despair and hopelessness, when her father found the cave. They weren't the only family seeking shelter, she knew, when they found two other families already inhabiting the cave. Although surrounded by danger, the cave was a happy place to live in, with laughter and joy. But what was coming next was not foreseen. They had been found by the monsters. The monsters being powerful and stronger held the weaklings as their captive. Had it not been her mother, Riddhima would have been with them too. But she managed to escape.
She ran as fast as she could. The forest was engulfed in the darkness. She could see nothing. Finally she stopped, trying to catch her breathe. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She was sure that it was all over by now. She had lost her family. Tears of anguish and disgust not willing to stop, she screamed out loud, wishing that one of them finds her and kills her. But no one could. She was alone, all alone, in the dense and dark jungle.
Finally, everything was black. Her visions were blurred, and the only sound she could hear was of her breathing. Her fragile body collapse and lay there, until she was lost in the nothingness.
