G: hey Nakul Bhaiya have you seen DM

N: yes, she has gone out for her monthly charity meet, remember it's the 3^rd Thursday today

G: nothing, I am off to my room I think I need some rest

It was dinner time Geet was still in her room, Maan came in for dinner

M: hi, Nakul DM must have gone for that club meeting, but where is Geet?

N: in her room she was down today and said she needs rest, shall I call her?

M: no, you serve the dinner I'll just go and call her, she must not skip meals

He went to her room, she was sitting by the window, her head resting on the window frame, he coughed twice but got no response

M: hi, any one home he asked patting her shoulder

She turned her face to meet his, she was in tears and gave him a sniffy look

M: hey what happened? (he said siting by her side)

G: Maan, I think I need to see the doc

M: why? Is there anything wrong?

G: I can't feel the kicks, (and she was in tears)

He just felt like hitting his head, but thought better off, she is still a kid and said

M: hey take it easy it happens

G (she glared at his laughing eyes): you are laughing?

M: I am not, what I am saying is, look it happens, some times babies go are not active for few hours even couple of days

G: how do you know?

M: I know everything

G: how?

M: I have a book, that tells every thing about babies before they are born

G: and you never thought about giving it to me

M: ok mera bachcha I will give you but first come and have dinner

G: but why is he not moving, kicking or rolling?

M: she, Geet she

G: no, he

M: ok I will prove that it's a girl

G: how?

M: just see, now I'll talk to her and if she responds then she definitely is a girl

G: so confident, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana

M: yes, now, kep quite and watch

She smiled and put a finger on her lips

And surprisingly the baby rolled

G: OMG I just can't believe

She was taken aback by the suddeness of the moment, she never saw it coming, yes he was right, he was just no one, by the time she came out of the shocked realisation he had left the room, she huriedly went out and saw him passing by the dining table to the main enterance

G: Maan, MAAN!

He looked back still sadness in his eyes was clearly visible

G: yes, I will let her call what you want

He looked at her with delight and the smile he gave reached his eyes

She pointed to the dinner that waited and both had a joyfull meal

As days went he would read the book for her, during the morning Puja he would read Ramayan or Bhagwat Geeta to her, DM was very happy with the progress.

it's been 5 months that Geet was living happily at KM

one such day DM sat on the breakfast table, Maan was on a call and exused himself for a minute, Geet was keeping a dish on the table and Nakul went to the kitchen to bring juice the phone buzzed, Geet went and picked it up

G: hello, Khurana Mansion and instantly dropped the receiver hearing a voice from the other end OMG it is Darjee on the other side

Maan saw the movement and instantly went to her side and picked up the phone

D: hello beta ji I am Darjee from Hoshiyarpur

M: ji, wait I will give te phone to DM

and then gave the phone to DM who had stopped eating her breakfast and was looking at Geet's pale face

D: how are you Savitri Devi?

DM: I am fine.

D: how are Geet and Dev ji?
DM paused for a moment and saw Geet's face which was turning paler every minute, Maan was giving her water to drink : they are fine, you called after long

D: my mistake, I apologise for it, actually Karva Chauth is coming in a forthnight, and as this will be Geet's first we would like to invite her to keep the fast at our place, yes ofcourse along with Dev ji

DM: that's nice of you but this year Geet will not be keeping any fast

D: why (shocked)

DM: did your Badi Bahu not tell you the good news,

D: what good news?

DM: Geet is pregnant, and at our place pregnant woman do not fast

D: oh that's a good news, these women they never tell me any thing, its ok Savitri Devi, even at our place it goes the same way, can I talk to Dev ji

DM: he has gone to Canada, as you might be knowing he looks after out buisness from there

D: but Geet is with you

DM: yes, she is in delicate condition and I want her to be given the best possible care, so she will be here with me, till she is mature enough to care for herself

D: how nice of you? We are really lucky to have you as her Dadi Saas, Pammi ji, has she gone with Dev ji

DM: no, she is very much in India, but at this hour she goes to the gurudwara, she will be back before lunch you can call then and talk to her

D: no thing, I have talked to you, that's enough, will Geet be able to come on the phone

DM: yes, why not?

And she gave the receiver to Geet, who took it with trembling hands

G: hello

D: how are you Geet? And congratulations, when will I be seeing my grandchilds face

G: there is a lot of time for that

D: take care and keep in touch, I will try to come and meet you

G: ji

And hanged the phone
