Please read this article...

Census Update: What the World Will Look like in 2050

According to this article...India is going to be the most populous nation by the year 2025...yikes..
Should India worry about this population explosion or is there a strength in numbers??
What are the advantages and disadvantages of being numero uno in population??
I am so not proud of India beating China on this one...

Yeah, India has reasons to worry. Overpopulation is never a boon especially for a country like ours, which depends on import for energy resources. However, in one angle, India's population might be an edge over China. India's population will mainly comprise youth in majority while China's population shall have an overload of senior citizens.

The main constrain of over-population will be on energy resources. India needs to develop Thorium based Fast breeder reactor and maximum wind and solar power to reduce long term dependence on foreign countries for uranium or even oil. By 2040 we may see a cold war over energy resources of middle east. India needs to forge strategic tie ups with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, etc, without antagonizing Israel, before China does so. This would not only ensure a steady energy security, but also give us an upper hand over Pakistan in any conflict.

India could be the most populous country before that, with what the current situation is. Government puts up these odd and hilarious promotions on TV regarding family planning. If illiteracy and economy can't be help, so can't this, you see. Sadly, people who overdo their bit in contributing to the country's population are severely ignorant. And then we've got son-obsessed families, they won't stop unless they have one, how remote and gross is that! Ironically, I know of a man who has five boys and is his wife is expecting her sixth, hoping they'd get a daughter at last. Anyhow, this points at people's naivety. 🤓

As literacy rate and cost of living go up I believe there will be smaller families. Overcrowding is often due to people from rural areas going into cities seeking job opportunities. These days many from India go overseas and I guess this does offset the population growth; but there is a difference in quality. Country loses out often when skilled and talented workers leave and never come back.

2012 is just another attempt to strike fear into the human heart and collect more money.

Of population too it is the quality that is more important than the quantity.

ok..india is the only place where u can find poorest of the poor and yet holds the record of having one of the world's fastest growing economy..
here u can see a bullock cart and ferrari on the same road...when u look at the latest acheivement of indian science and technology u also can actually see many ppl suffering even for thier daily neccessities...when u look at the urban area u can see a nation. challenging the world..but a country is said 2 b developed when evry individual knows thier actual duty towards the nation..
now a days people who are given power are misusing ,people who have potential to change are not using it...and people on whom the nation depends does even know it...

should india be worried..hmm..actually who has to worry the goverment which fights among itself or the opposition which tries to get the power..,citizens sum who work to survive or the ones who survive on others efficiency...few politicians try to do sumthing but it is as said"india wale dosron ko first aane dete hain na khud ko"

i think not just the programmes for the right to educate but also awareness has to b created about evrything that happens in india...from moon to corruption..ppl should b made enough to know atleast what's happening around them...
sumtimes i wonder seeing people in protests against corruption, fighting for their rights..when we start to think people do care..the next minute we see another set of ppl doing wrong things..one thing is always true in case of this nation"india incredible india"..

I have serious doubts about any of the findings from the census.

I remember my uncle having to physically phone up the census guys to tell them to come to his house and ask him questions for the census!
When they came over they only went over to his place and didn't bother with anyone else in the building, nor any of the other buildings in the area. I also heard about them going to slums in India and waking people up from their sleep at crazy hours to question them.

I can't help but draw comparisons to the official census that was carried out in the UK some 2 months ago where people would actually have to pay a 1000 pound fine if they did not fill in the census forms.

I don't think this stat is anything to be proud of. Not unless the level of poverty decreases too or the country's political and legal system sees some change.
