Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji now has a brand new role — that of a doting pishi (aunt, in Bengali).
Her brother, television producer Raja Mukerji, has become a father. His actress wife, Jyoti, delivered a baby girl at 4.38 pm on May 8, in a city hospital.
First grandchild
The Mukerji family, especially Raja's parents, is particularly overjoyed, as this is the parivaar's first grandchild.
"We were all waiting for this big moment and it has finally happened. The entire family, including Rani, was at the hospital during the delivery," says the new papa. "Both Jyoti and the baby are absolutely fine," he adds.

So who does the baby girl look like? "At first look, she seems a mixture of Jyoti, Rani and me. But I have to admit her eyes are definitely like Rani's light eyes," says Raja. Rani was present at the hospital from the time Jyoti was admitted, till the delivery.
"Both of us were there throughout with Jyoti. It was an overwhelming moment. Rani, particularly, wanted to be present and share the special moment with Jyoti," says Raja.
The Mukerjis haven't yet chosen a name for the newborn. "We must have shortlisted at least 200 names. Now, we will have to select one. I think we will give her a nice Bengali name," says the proud papa.
Jyoti, who had a normal delivery, is slated to remain in hospital for the next few days. She had acted in the title role of Raja's show, Prratima, which aired on SaharaOne.
Earlier, the fashion designer-turned-actress was seen in serials like Manzilen Apni Apni, Gharaana, Kittie Party and Mulk. She also featured in a film, Maa Santoshi Maa.
Paternity leave
Hubby Raja is currently working on two television projects, as well as a Bengali film. "Now I will take paternity leave. I want to spend as much time as possible with the baby. It's celebration time!" he exults.
