A ROUND OF REALITY CHECKS

It's a day for a round of reality checks. Krishna delivers a mighty one to his mother in a calm voice like knife slicing butter, Komal gets one handed to her from her bauji, one that is long overdue. GD gives her son SS a reality check when it comes to his new house guest Lady Ganga. Kesamma reminds Kesar to stay out of the brewing mess while KN regrets a lost opportunity to get his hands on Lady Ganga before his bauji got lucky.😉😛😆

SS doesn't want to see Takurain's burnt and scarred body last thing at night. Oy, Takurji, did you forget your mehraroo goes to bed decked up like she is ready to jump out of bed to attend a impromptu party in the middle of the night?

SS is one gracious host, he invites Lady Ganga into his home warning the rest of the junglee inhabitants off Lady Ganga as she is there under his protection. When has this patriarch of the family done any such thing hands-on…… to walk Lady Ganga to her room which also happens to be his room. Lady Ganga gets past the first the glowering SDS as she meekly accompanies SS up the stairs. SS is well aware that SDS went ballistic and barbecued herself intentionally. Is SS so protective of Ganga bec' he is tired of his own progenies who have turned their lives upside down. He has often said he just wants peace in the house but isn't getting any with his crafty wife's numerous mechanizations. KN for now is laying low for now as the potha is in the oven, Krishna's marriage is on the rocks and Komal's marriage is on hold, no contact with Adarsh since he made a dash for Dubai out of the clutches of his nagging, money hungry wife. Is SS hoping to give this young lassie a good life one for which she will be grateful unlike his own children?

Shakthi regrets having turned down the chance to go to the village. Isn't a wife enough for the Takur men, that adding names to their list of women is an attractive pastime. KN went as far as to take the saat pheres with Arusi but she got away on a legal technicality and now he wants another chance? Only he is foolish enough to make such a comment within earshot of his sasuma and wife who immediately disapproves of Kesar's comments with a few words of her own only to be dragged away by her mother and warned to stay out of it. Surprise KN hasn't spilled the truth about his second batch of saat pheres with Arusi! to his sasuma in a drunken moment. She'll create her own tamaasha to give Takurain a run for her money if she gets wind of that truth. Like his siblings he is only concerned about his own selfish interests. The last encounter KN has had is with his bottle of booze, sharing pickles with Kesamma😆.

GD is disapproving of the Takur men, none of them seem to have it together these days. Komal is livid that a girl her age is sharing her father's room while her mother has been relegated to a kitty corner of haveli near the front entrance of the haveli like an indoor security guard😛. Wonder if Piasiya has better sleeping quarters than the demoted Queen Bee of the Niwas!

Komal charges up the stairs, grabs Lady Ganga by the arm and threatens the young lassie bodily harm if she dares to step into her mother's bedroom. SS steps in defense of Lady Ganga and asks Komal to release her grasp on the lady. When she continues to defy SS he frees Ganga from Komal's hold and tells his daughter to buzz off to attend to her own stuck-in-the-mud marriage. He invites Ganga into his room and makes sure that every inhabitant of the Niwas hears him loud and clear when he tells them they have gutter minds filled with gutter thoughts, something he doesn't indulge in. That reality check was a long time coming for Komal. She has little care to do anything with her life and time but busy sticking her nose into everyone else's business especially their marriages. She has as much contempt for her Kesar, Prats and Arusi as her mother. She is way too sure that Adarsh is her puppet and her life is a bed of roses waiting for her. She forgets that thorns are near pretty roses.

A very calm Krishna walks up to Takurain after the rest of the family has dispersed to their respective dens and reminds her that for all her attempts at ruining his marriage to Prats has come to roost in her own backyard. He heads back to his room after reminding his mother that she is now the resident of the pit she had so excitedly dug to get rid of Prats. Is Takurain reflecting on "Reap as Ye shall sow", "it's come full circle", "what goes around comes around" are some quotes worth remembering in every day life to monitor one's impulsive behaviors. Still reeling and frozen to the spot since SS walked Ganga up to his bedroom, Krishna's words was her second dose of jatka coming fast and furious on the heels of the first one. All she needs is one more from KN and the Takur men would have gifted a hat-trick of surprises beyond her wildest dreams. Why does it feel like this will only feed the Takurain's cruel mentality further? All the abuse at the hands of SS over the years has only made her more defiant and baring her teeth like a temperamental tiger. Will she one of the few Takur family members who will never learn no matter how severe the consequences of her actions?

Komal is following her mother's example of being a selfish, self-centered girl. MMM thinks that for all her screeching Komal would lose hands down if there is a face-off with Ganga who seems to exude a quite confidence that could easily stop the bratty Takur girl in her tracks. With her life on hold Komal is sticking her head in everyone else's lives and minding everyone else's marriages but her own now that it's been halted for next three years.

SS freshens up and invites Lady Ganga to sit by him on his bed. To put her at ease he asks her what she thinks of the haveli. She is yet to know it's a hellhole so she innocently says it's bigger than the local "tation" in her village and too big to not be found for a long time. Her answers reflect that she is still a young girl but somewhere in there one can get a glimpse of a gutsy young girl who may yet be the uneducated version of Prats some day. SS is curious to know what her parents have taught her in preparation for marriage and once again her simple answers brings a satisfied smile to SS' face…….at this time he listens to her like a loving, indulgent parent not a horny man with amorous intentions towards her. GD comes knocking on his door just as he requests Lady Ganga to press his tired legs.

GD appears at his bedroom door steam coming out of her ears, her nose flaring and her eyes shooting daggers announcing that Lady Ganga can tend to his needs from dawn to dusk but will keep her company come nightfall. If SS was really looking for concubine services from Lady Ganga would the time of day really stop him in his tracks? She orders Ganga to follow her out of SS's room. Ganga meekly follows the matriarch of the house to her room. SS mutters to himself about their filthy thoughts and gets back to catch some shut eyes.

A restless Krishna sits on his bed with visions of flashbacks of the recent painful moments when he refused to pay heed to Prats's words realizing how wrong he was in gauging Prats's intentions. His catches a glimpse of the Baby Lord Krishna statue on his bedside table. He squats in front of it and speaks from his heart wondering out loud why HE would let such things happen knowing things were going wrong. Krishna admits he can't look Prats in the eye now after all his mistakes letting so many accusations pile on Pratigya that led her to walk out of the house in spite of being innocent. The practical side of Krishna is ready to let the past be in the past as thinks out loud about what he should do next. A moment later he decides he's going to do whatever it takes to redeem himself in Prats's eyes. He gets no response from the statue but then that was the divine affirming in silence so he could hear his own heart give him the answer.

GD is furious and disgusted at Ganga's parents for their choice to send their daughter with SS in lieu of loan payments. However when she poses questions to Ganga the teen shows staunchly defends her parents' actions. Just then GD spots SS hovering outside her bedroom. She wants to know what her dog tired son was doing there hiding behind her door. SS defends himself saying he does things openly not covertly like some others. Hmmm. Was that a dig at his mehraroo? And why would GD even care given there is no love lost between herself and her bahu. SS makes a silly excuse about being thirsty…..right😛! When GD comes after him for refusing to leave her room, SS scuttles away like terrified child after telling GD to take care of Ganga as she is in a new place and may be unable to sleep. This is a side of SS that is rarely seen under his tough exterior. He indulges Krishna and Komal on occasions but does he feel an obligation to take care of this girl who is so young or is there more of an amorous intent hidden behind such caring is still a mystery. His real intentions may yet be revealed in coming days.

At MMGJ, Prats is flipping pages of a physics book when she senses Krishna's presence. Her caring sister Arusi skimps on her own sleep to tell Prats to get some sleep. That's odd! If it's that late at night what is she doing up anyways? Prats assures her she'll soon retire for the night and sends her sister back to her bister. Prats returns to her restless flipping of pages while outside her home unbeknownst to her, her pati Parameshwar is pacing outside her home trying to muster the courage to knock on her door. Now wait a NY minute! Last time Krishna came knocking the front door to the GH was locked (during the fake pregnancy separation). Today the door is wide open for Krishna to walk through in the middle of the night? Aren't they concerned that anyone could loiter and make their way to their terrace and lay in wait? What if KN shows up looking for Arusi now that he sees his father has brought home a cute young girl and he wants to get Arusi back in his life?

The breeze blows a peacock feather from her book to the floor and hop, skips and flies around leading Prats chasing it to the living room door by the foyer of the house on the other side of which her husband is waiting tentatively wanting to knock on her door. Krishna loses his never and leaves unable to follow through.
Prats lifts the feather off the floor and is probably reminded of her dance with Krishna on his budday. She senses Krishna's presence and looks at the door. The moment to face each other again is but for another time. Why does Krishna show up at GH to see Prats at an ungodly hour whenever they are separated?

Prats speaking in character has said Krishna needs to assure her that he won't repeat the same mistakes and not trust her. Pray do tell Prats, is there any way anyone can assure or guarantee anything in life? One can apologize and be aware of choices they make but they can never be too sure of what they will or will not do in the future. The future is an unknown quantity. What assurance can you give Krishna that you will never do anything that could harm your marriage? And even if Krishna does give you the assurance what do words really mean when future events can bring in twists that surprise both of you. Never say never for life has a way of making us human eat our words to prove we are not in charge.

Please do add your thoughts and comments.😃

MMM thinks Takurain is going to up her ante and go for broke as the presence of Lady Ganga is going to initially create a war of roses scenario between SS and SDS. While he uses the young girl to stoke jealousy in SDS she is going to vent her anger at SS on Lady Ganga. Somewhere in there the young lassie might turn out to be a gutsy girl with GD protecting her and SS assuring no one treats her poorly. Will Ganga by her presence teach SS a thing or two about the way he has treated Prats badly? This girl seems to have an influence on SS.

Takurs are allergic to educated minds. The same coming from this village lassie may be palatable to them than from the lips of padi-liki Prats.

Wonderful post Dii🤗
lines in Red...👏

A very good episode altogether...but SS behaviour is quite confusing😕
Sometimes feels like he is her guardian trying to protect from the 'devils'😉 of TN...but at some moments i feel that he has bad intentions🤢Even feeling disgusted at the very thought...but it is true that these things do happen...😡
I want Ganga to teach everyone a lesson or two😈...especially SDS the evil resident😡😡🤢

Looking forward to today's episode and waiting for K and P to meet 😍

Truly an episode of Reality Checks👍🏼

What an awesome post Mera, The way you re-created each scene, each emotion, each motive and a peek into the hidden agendas, seemed so in sync with, what the storyteller of this show may have wanted to present. 👏

Superb post Mera - loved every word!!!
Life indeed holds no guarantees about anything, and as much as we try and secure our future with or without someone, its tough to go through life doubting and being hard on the ones closest to us.
Take it as you find it, trust your instincts...live for the moment and the opportunities that present themselves...
Above all forgiving the ones you love if they are willing to admit their folly and are seeking a a second chance has got to be right...
As for SS- yeah understand the shield he was wearing against a potential paedo-cum cradle snatcher label, but like you I remain unsure as to what exactly his intentions are...
Equally, jur'y's out for me on Ganga too...maybe she'll be a little SS in the making, more effective than Bayl Buddhi, more action than hot air than Little Thumbelina (courtesy of Tanths) and more reliably loyal to SS than Baba could be...

Mera, brill post again👏👏
You reminded me today of the KN/Kesamai drinking session, cos i've often wondered lately what was the significance of that scene, was there any point to it, was it meant to be funny or what, but it seems daft to just leave it there.
As for the rest, spot on⭐️
