Business Today, Time and Business Asia ' she grabbed the magazines and panted towards ASR's cabin. 'HachoOO!' , an unexpected sneeze shook her upper body. She huffed inside the office room, sniffing terribly and carefully placed the magazines on his table.
'hayere devi miyya', she gasped while giving a look around the office with arms on her hip.
'I was only gone for a week and look at the state of this room'
Well the room was not at all untidy nor dusty but it was not perfect for her. She quickly shuffled files, documents and stationery here and there while eyeing the clock. It was 8.55 am.
'Siren's flying! Siren's flying!', Pam's voice squeaked from downstairs.
That's the secret code people used for Arnav's entrance. She knew Arnav did not like seeing anybody in his office first thing when he walks in so she disappeared from the cabin almost immediately and hid behind a broad metal bar. She wanted to see Arnav's reaction when he sees the desk and realizes she was back. She missed him a lot during the past few days but was not sure if he felt the same way about her. Her eyes roamed through the entrance of the office to catch a glimpse of Arnav. Yes, there he was.
'Good morning ASR!', 'good morning sir' - voices of fellow staff members echoed as he walked hurriedly towards his office room while talking on his mobile phone. He walked into the room and switched on the laptop. Suddenly his eyes caught something on his desk. A small grin drew on his face. Yes, he knew Kushi was back. Nobody really knew how much he actually missed his chalti phirty chatterbox, even he, himself was not sure the extent he missed kushi. He looked around to see if she was anywhere to be seen but there was no such luck.
She, on the other hand caught the tiny grin on Arnav's face. She was certain that he was happy to have her back. 'But did Arnav miss me?', she asked herself while gazing at Arnav, who by the way was too busy gazing at a certain 'something' on his desk.
'oye, how long are you planning to hide here?', Pam poked her shoulder while winking sheepishly. 'chal yar nautanki, Hitler babu is waiting to see you', Pam pushed her hard towards Arnav's office.
She was zoomed inside his room like a floating kite. He looked up and gazed at her animatedly. Yes, Arnav & Kushi met after exactly 5 long days. Both were busy gazing at each other for few minutes.
During Kushi's absence, he tried to engage himself with his busy schedule but the concentration was elsewhere. She was down with high fever for a week but it was more like 5 years for him. Although he was tempted to ring her up and check on her health, he didn't have the courage or confidence to do so. It was too difficult to shatter his grim and get out of his shell which was full of anger, misery and pain. The only happiness in his life was interacting with Kushi at the office. They were always at loggerheads but somehow she completed her. And she had no idea that Arnav was gradually falling in love with her.
It was not easier for Kushi either. While she was being sick with high fever and cold, her mind was hogged by Arnav. So many questions poked her poor brain; wonder how he was, did he schedule his meetings properly?, did he have his meals on time? Did the Marketing Team bother him with the preparations of the new fashion show? Was he all right?. Payal nagged her to sleep and rest but those 5 days were traumatic to endure. She was worried about Arnav. She was not sure how he was coping in office without her. More than anything she missed him miserably. Whenever she was with Arnav, she felt at peace. Although she blabbers and mouth at him; which is something that nobody at ASR office has guts to even think about doing, she somehow felt he completed her. In other words, she was falling for Arnav.
Kushi realized the gaze was going on in slow motion for more than couple of minutes so she delicately rearranged her dupatta. Arnav didn't move his eyes and continued gazing at her. Kushi slowly walked towards his desk, looking everywhere else but avoiding Arnav's eyes. She accidently caught his eyes and felt goosebumps by his intoxicating stare. It was time for somebody to say something so Kushi looked down at her note pad, cleared her throat and started jabbering.
'Erm'. I checked your schedule for today and Mr. Sharma is supposed to meet you here at 10. Mark's photoshoot is happening at 11.30. There's a luncheon appointment with Mr. Anurag Basu at 12.30'.'
'Ye kya hai?', Kushi was interrupted by Arnav's husky voice. She moved her eyes from the note pad and looked at where he was pointing. It was the certain 'something' which was lying on his desk, next to the laptop.
'Woh'. Karilla juoice', she squeeled like a school kid. She looked at Arnav with a broad smile and a twinkle in her eyes. Arnav on the other hand did not look amused or pleased. He gave a fake ignorance look.
'Mujhe ye nahi chahiye', he pushed the glass further away from his reach. Kushi marched at his seat and held the glass near Arnav's face.
'No no You have to drink this. You missed it for 5 days and I'm not sure how your sugar level is. We have controlled it to a certain margin and the doctor said we need to sustain it'.'
'We?', he said while pulling back towards the chair. Kushi looked at his eyes and placed the glass near his laptop.
'We mean you and karalla juice', Kushi stormed out of the office while hiding her naughty smile.
Arnav gazed at Kushi until she disappeared from his room. His eyes flew towards the glass of karalla juice. Ever since Kushi found out Arnav was a diabetic patient, she has been bringing karalla juice every morning for him despite his ignorance and his disapproval. She somehow forced him to drink it by using all the tricks in her book. The results were clearly visible during his routine monthly check ups. The doctor and his sister; Anjali were curious how Arnav was controlling his sugar level amidst his busy schedule. One thing they were not aware of was; Arnav had his own caretaker at his office by the name of Kushi Gupta.
Arnav glanced at the glass with a small smirk. He slowly reached to the glass and held it with his left hand. He knew how bitter it was. He knew he did not enjoy it one bit. He knew that there was no way in the world anybody could compel him to swallow that bitter shit through his throat. But he had to drink it. Not for the sake of his health, but for her. The person Arnav loves the most; Kushi.
