Should we get to see more of Abhay and Maithli? I mean, their story , how they were , why Abhay was so deeply in love with her and how Metz was really before she turned evil. Fine, we know Maithli through Abhay's eyes and we saw what ultimately became of her but i still want to know why they were so epic until tragedy struck.
Don't misunderstand me. Of course am a Abhay-Piya shipper but the darkness, pathos and obsessive streak of AMetz is riveting. When you look at them , you do think about the 'what ifs'. You tend to try and see what was Maithli's fault in all this if she was contaminated with evil blood and fed lies over centuries. As much as you want to hate her , you can see that inspite of being with Sid for over 200 years , she never got over Abhay . Her helpless anger and royal rejection by Abhay when he tells her that he loves her no more does get to you. The transformation of Maithli's pure innocent love into a selfish dark obsession is like a journey through a tunnel.
And Abhay? Abhay was always in love with Maithli - his whole human life and a good 200 years. Abhay fell in love with Piya much much later when she and Metz merged into one woman for him. Even when he came to know that she had turned evil and hurt him, Abhay couldn't raise his hands to hurt her. He told that to Piya later that he could not kill Metz and she couldn't kill him because they loved each-other.
Yes, Piya is Abhay's soulmate but Maithli is an epoch of his life and he still holds a candle for her somewhere deep down.
Metz of course had a different way of dealing with her love-turned-into-pathological-obsession. She froze Abhay as her slave so that he can never belong to Piya or any other woman. She concentrated all her darkness and emotional fury into that one spell which barred Abhay from being with any other woman than her.Its evil and heartbreaking at the same time.
If you look at it, Abhayendra and Maithli are a dark tale of love , passion, betrayal and obsession. What Abhay-Piya make up in the elevation and beauty of true love, Abhayendra and Maithli degenerate into the darkness , the venom and the deep abyss of love when it is ill-fated and scarred.
