Jay, who was silently appreciating the beauty of the wild flowers, turned around and stared at her with a confused expression.
"You figured that out now?" He half smiled as she sat beside Piya on the bench.
"Not funny." She replied with her trademark sarcastic smile which soon disappeared as she sighed deeply.
"Why do think so, that you've gone mad?" He spread his legs to sit in a more comfortable posture and stared at her who was looking at the grass with a vacant expression.
"I don't have the memory of one year of my life, I see things and people that don't exist, I hear a strange voice guiding me through the darkness. A strange face haunts me in my dreams. I just can't take this anymore." She shook her head at the end of the sentence and dejectedly put her head on his welcoming shoulder.
"Its nothing to worry about, just think of it as a very fantastical phase of your life." He smiled and gently touched her cheek. The crease on her forehead smoothed at his touch and she sighed contentedly.
"I am sick of this fantasy. I need something that is real." She said softly and looked at him. Jay smiled, held her hand and got up. She looked at him questioningly as he stood in front on her and crouched on the lush green grass. Because of his posture, Piya had to look down to see his face clearly.
He put her hand on his chest where his heart thumped. Piya closed her eyes as she her hand made contact with his warm skin.
"What do you hear?" He asked gently.
"The sound of my life."
"What do you feel?"
"I feel like I've been given wings."
"What do you want to do."
"Fly...fly somewhere far away.
"Where?"
"To a brand new undiscovered place..."
"And where will you find it?"
"Anywhere..." she whispered and opened her eyes. "Anywhere where you'll be by my side, holding my hand just like this."
"And will that be real or a magic?"
"It is the most magical reality of my life..."
Jay gave a small laugh and leaned in closer to her face. Piya closed her eyes. His eyes lingered on her face for a little while as his other hand caressed her cheek gently. Countless emotions shone in his eyes as his lips made contact with hers and kissed them.
The wind around them danced joyfully at this gentle union of the fated lovers. The birds sang a joyful song as they celebrated this long awaited happiness high above in the skies. The flowers blushed and giggled as they joined in the celebration started by the wind and spread their enchanting aroma in the air. The sun smiled at the couple and gave its blessing as the warm rays kissed their faces.
It was such a scene that if a artist saw it, he would immediately put it down on his canvas and term it as his masterpiece. Yet, he would not be able to do justice to it. Because it was scene created by the nature which happened only for the nature. It happened among the nature to increase the beauty of the nature. It was a silent celebration of the nature...not to be recreated or stolen. Only the people present there could fully understand the beauty of it but they could never explain. It was a nature's enigma...
When they broke the kiss, the silent magic of the scene also broke but the celebration lingered on.
"Silly girl, from now on whenever that fantasy of yours drives you mad just think of this heart which only beats to see this smile of yours. And you'll instantly find the most magical reality of your life." He said in a serious tone as she looked down shyly with a smile on her lips. He pinched her nose playfully.
She giggle at his action. Seeing her at peace, a burden was lifted off his shoulders and he joined in her laughter. He wondered, as she laughed carelessly, what would he do if that magical sound was to disappear?
Piya put her arms around him and he wrapped his own arms around her, protectively. He patted her head gently as she snuggled close to him.
"Thank you for making me hear the most beautiful melody of my eternity...your heartbeat." She whispered gently as if it was a secret meant only for him. He just smiled and enjoyed the most happy moment of his life.
Their hearts, beating together signed a silent pact that this moment was supposed to their secret. They told the wind and the wind understood. Everything that witnessed this scene didn't dare go away from this holy place.
The wind celebrated there...
The birds sung there...
The flowers danced there...
The rays of light lightened this place...
All of them never letting an intruder enter this place. After all...
