Everybody likes to see little kids entertain with their comic acts or dancing skills on the stage. But what most don't see is that in the process, the kid is probably being denied a childhood. There's are an increasing number of shows on television itself that highlight a kid as the central character and has the kid sing, dance and preen at all times. Often, pursuing their parents' dreams and being over worked by the channel, a kidslife is hardly glamorous and fun. While money is always the catch, it may not always be worth it. The topic has been debatable since quite sometime and we got a few TV personalities to share their views on children working in daily soaps, for starters.

Nuper Alankar who plays Jannat Zubair's mother in Phulwa says, "Children who start acting at a young age surely grow up faster. But as long as they manage acting and studies, it's fine. Especially if they enjoy acting. Jannat is extremely well-taken care of on the sets. She has a separate room and the production house really pampers her and she enjoys coming on the set as much as she enjoys her school." The producer of the show Yash Patnaik says, "Children who are talented should join the industry by choice and not because they are forced into it. Children are taken good care of by production houses today."

Actor Vindu Dara Singh says, "I don't think kids acting in shows damages their personalities in any way. It is great that parents encourage their children to do what they are good at and if it is acting, so be it. Sridevi is a prime example of child artist going on to be a great one and even I did child roles as a kid." Actor Akshay Sethi who plays Deepak in Sasural Genda Phool does not have a fixed view on this. He says, "I have a very mixed opinion. It's wrong to force a kid to act. But it's good if the child is working willingly."

Thanks for Sharing this Shwetha .
I always have conflict with my regarding these Kids shows . My mom is big on those Kids Musical shows. She is always praise those kids as how well they sing ? How nice !!!! They have so much talent in such a young age . While I can see the death of Childhood !!!!!
Don't get me wrong but they have to practice their craft for what like 3-4 hours everyday than School , Homework !!!! They say the kid pays attention to their school or homework it's ok for them to work !!!!! R they going to pay attention in school once they start getting FAME ??? I totally dis- Agree . to all the hoopla of Reality Music shows or acting at a young age . Studies comes first . bottom line . If they have talent go to school , take extra classes , . when U r old enough , Talent shows r going to b there when U r old enough to digest the FAME ...

i totally agree...that children are put into lots of difficulty by doing this shows...
i too like the music and dance shows of kids...its a wonderful platform for them to showcase talent...bt not at the expense of their health and studies...i always prefer if the chennels conduct these shows in the summer holidays..atleast they will be free...bt to my knowledge...the judges who are judging the children's show are very good and understands them...u know one child attempted suicide here down south...cos the judges comments were rude...

i dont like children in comedy shows especially,...the lines they are made to speak are totally inappropriate for them...

Shwetha ,
When I was in school , I used to play different sports in school & have played state level.
It was say the least very hard . I had school , Plus Home work so
it's like 6-8 hours school plus 2-3 hours homework Plus Play sport for like 2 hours everyday .
Even on Sundays ...
It was hard . very hard to balance everything.
And Sports I was playing for my fun but In order to b good at it U have to improve ur game .
It' sad to hear abt the kids suicide attempt .
but I believe it was not only judges comments were behind it
but pressure to win is also behind it.
My parents wanted us to play sports not cauz it good for health or us to win something but
to make us understand that In life too U sometime win and sometime Loose
So If V ever Loose something in life or things don't go according to plan ,
U don't get disappointed . Seems to me people have lost the basic rule .
In this case Parents r also to blame , They use their own kids
for whatever reason . I had to do all that but My parents also give us the normal childhood .
I m grateful for that . They never pressure us to win . just ask us to play nice and do ur best .
here parents choose such a hard songs for kids , In order to do justice to hard song they have to
Practice for longer hours .Y ? Cauz to win .
