Too hot to handle

Among the hazards of a telly swayamvar are to-be grooms who want to get up, close and personal with the prospective bride. Her experience with Delhi boy Syed Shoaib started well but the ending wasn't pleasant. Initially, she singled him out for special attention and who could blame her? Good-looking, smart and confident, he quickly charmed himself into her good graces. All seemed hunky dory till suddenly, Ratan eliminated him from the show. Apparently, what didn't go down well with Ratan was Shoaib's attempt to get too close to her in a photo shoot in a bid to demonstrate their "crackling" chemistry. While most of the contestants tried various romantic poses with the demure bride-to-be, Shoaib crossed the line and got too "touchy-feely" for the lady's comfort. A shocked Ratan gave him a piece of her mind. When Ratan brought his family into the picture, he retaliated. The result: she sent him packing on a non-elimination day.
Shoaib, when asked for his version, denied that he had misbehaved. "The photographer wanted hot chemistry between us and I told him that if need be, I could take Ratan on my lap. Maybe Ratan didn't like that. I wanted to apologise to her but things were sorted out over dinner. Ratan also didn't mention that she felt uncomfortable during the photo shoot," said Shoaib, who didn't have a clue that there would be a dramatic exit (his) the following day.
He went on, "She even told me that she would save me from elimination if I landed in the bottom zone. But the next day she created an issue and threw me out. I think she was upset with something else, but made me a target of her anger. I felt insulted when she spoke ill about my family and that's when I hit back."
A source in the channel which airs Ratan Ka Rishta says that Shoaib was indeed one of the top contenders for the finale. Shoaib said he regretted his journey ending so soon when his intention behind auditioning for the show was to marry Ratan. "When I first saw her in 10 Ka Dum I was infatuated with her, but later I started liking her and fell in love. I was the first person she became friends with on the show. She enjoyed my company and we had a great time. I didn't expect her to evict me like that. I wanted to say sorry but she didn't relent. I think she is a bit childish and short-tempered," he added. He admitted that despite her childish streak, Ratan was smart and evaluated people intelligently.
He felt that most of the other guys on the show were there only for "name and fame" and weren't really interested in marrying Ratan. "Only a couple of them are genuinely interested in marriage. Deepak Pandit (from Jammu, a software engineer) is one of them. I think he's the only one who has some chance of winning Ratan's heart," was his opinion. Shoaib hasn't lost hope and is still clinging to the prospect of a re-entry. "As per the contract there is a wild card entry. But it's going to be Ratan's call. If she chooses to bring me back I will be very happy!"
