More and more Indian families, particularly those which are more wealthy and educated, are going for selective abortion of the second girl child if their first-born too was a girl, claims a new study.

The parents going for it want to ensure that at least one child in the family should be a boy.

What will be the best way to stop this events in our society?

My Idea is : No girl child abortion's commitment should be at the time of marriage. Is it?

The Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT Act) which prohibits sex determination in India. The PCPNDT Act is also an conflict with the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act (MTP Act). The legislation regulates the use of PCPNDT Act for the determination of the sex of a fetus, and prohibits sex-determination as it would lead to selective female foeticide. The MTP Act only to be executed in more helpless cases, where a life (mother/baby) is in danger!

A baby is a gift and should be treasured, they are miracles and should not be measured by gender! --People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child: our own two eyes. All is a miracle.

People in India want a male child for religious reasons, to perform the last rites. Male child is also considered as a breadwinner for the family and support for parents in their old age. As long as these beliefs persist people will hanker for a male child.
Education can provide a solution but as I see it blind faith in outdated traditions has a long life ahead.

if someone carry a baby 3,4 months or bymistake married cuple got pregnent or Gender issue or disability in that baby, then they decide to Abort, Its same like killing!! BUT if a women permit situation like, teen age girl got pregnent or Rape issues they
can do abortion early stage itself nothing wrong in it. I just wanna say, dont kill the babies,Cos there is 1000s couples dont have kids, and they ready to adopt your kids, before doing these cruel acts think about it!

^^ Careful, you may turn the course of this debate.😉
This is on Sex-selective abortion, not "ABORTION" in general. The two issues are planets apart.

I knew of a guy who had several daughter and he badly wanted a son. But he never aborted any.
He had a dream that if he had a son then there would be financial trouble for him.
He was one of the nicest persons on the planet.
