Desperate members of Love U Zindagi visit city in hope to revive sagging TRP
When the going gets tough... show producers take their lead players for a spin as far as to Lucknow to generate interest.
"I have relatives from both parents' side in Lucknow," beams actor Siddhartha Shukla, "born and brought up in Lucknow", but rooted in Allahabad. He plays the glum rich guy in Love U Zindagi on Star Plus, the televised spin-off of Imtiaz Ali's super hit film Jab We Met.
"I was not briefed to copy Kareena, who played Geet in the film, but everybody says I am very much like the heroine," said Delhi girl Pavitra Puniya, who shot to fame with MTV's Splitsvilla. "I even met Kareena once, but we didn't discuss this character I play," continued the lead player of the series. The ambitious project was launched with fanfare, involving the director of the Kareena-Shahid romance.
"Imtiaz Ali suggested the show explore all that could not be in the film, so the actors were given a free hand, thought the backdrop and atmosphere is much the same," said Mamta Dhingra representing the channel. "Considering the show is aired only on weekends, it is doing fairly well," she said about the show, promising new twists in the tale in future.
