oh and read vikas swaroop's slumdog millionaire// his book is alot different from the actual movie..maybe parallel to my liking towards both

I haven't read many by Indian others but Salman Rushdie and Bali Rai are great writers, especially the latter.. His novel Rani&Sukh is amazinly written and would recommend it to anyone.. =)

Try A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. It has won Booker Prize.
