If the story is logical, Vikram is to be dead. If not, without legal procedures like Dr. test, autopsy, burrial etc, the police can not come to the conclusion that the man is dead. Ha! you can file attempt to murder case, but can not call that a murder.
If he has not died and has bought the law, which is very much a possibility, he has to surface some where while he is out to take revenge on Rani.
Given the fact that his position had changed when Shekar went in the room, either he was pretending, or he was killed by a third party, which points to one of his Ex-GF. Other than Saloni and Ritu, he may have many more, who wanted to end the trouble that he was causing in their lives. This has the highest chance.
Vikram can not committ suicide. Ruled out.
Saloni is coward. She can not do it. She could not even do one small thing on her own. She was at home (not a huge haveli) and is the center of attention - no possibility. Everybody asked Rani, where she was - even though she is not liked much by her MIL. If Saloni, was not seen, her mother would have mobilised an army immediately.
Nitin (Saloni's mangetar) - ruled out if he is not a Psycho or a bad person with a mask of sweet gestures. He will burry the past and live happily with Saloni, if he comes to know about the affair. He was not contesting with Vikram for her love. But, on the negative side, chances are there that he has done it.
Shekar - ruled out. Not al all. He was shocked and was looking at the blood in his hands and had not yet come to terms with the reality, just when he was spotted by the room boy.
