Chapter 20 – The Dream

Raj started to ask drivers to take out cars when Geet stopped him. "No, cars are not required…we will walk"

Now all were surprised. Raj – "Walk?...lekin beta"

"Please papa…just few minutes more…just humor me"

All started walking thru the posh and lush green neighborhood. They took a turn at the end of block and suddenly stopped seeing Geet standing in front of a huge house which looked like a haveli. (From now on…Original home with be KM and New home will be KH (Khurana Haveli)

Raj- "Arre yeh kab change hua. Yahan to ek chota sa ghar tha. Lagta hai some new owners have taken over."

His eyes moved to the name plate and was shocked to see "Khurana's" written on the name plate.

Everybody looked at Geet shocked.

She cleared her throat "hmmm…Bauji…Beeji…ab we have two homes at the distance of 5 minutes…I hope you like it". She said the last part so softly that it was hardly audible.

Juhi had tears in her eyes "tu pagli hai…sach mein…aise surprise to tere jaise sample piece hi de sakta hai" With that she hugged her.

Rishab was speechless. Nisha complained "tune yeh sab kab kiya aur who bhi with your health issues…kam se kam humein to bolna tha"

"It is our home mom…and it is a surprise for all" She tried to circumvent the discussion around her health and Maan clearly understood what she was trying to do.

Maan – "Andar chalein?"

Everybody walked in. There was a beautiful landscaped garden. Front was lined by Asoka trees with boundary lines with roses of all colors. There was a patch of seasonal flowers and creepers full of green leaves, yellow and white flowers snaked on the walls exuding soft and flowery aroma. There was a huge grass patch with garden table and chairs for sitting just next to a beautiful fountain adorned with an angel statue.

Annie - "It's beautiful Di…absolutely amazing" everybody except Rishab murmured their agreement. Geet and Maan noticed his silence. Geet was now really worried. "Why is Bauji not saying anything?"

They walked inside from the side entrance which directly opened onto a big foyer. It was a huge living area with French doors connecting to a formal drawing room. There were doors to a kitchen with a spacious dining area in front of it. Living area was already decorated tastefully with sofas and a home theatre system. There were two bedrooms on one side and an imposing staircase rose from the middle. (LOL…I have described my parents house in more grandeur way). Everybody was in awe with the design and it was clearly visible that a lot of thought and love has gone in making this.

Raj whispered –"It's beautiful"

But Geet was waiting for reaction from one person. She turned and was stunned to see Rishab leaning down and touching the black marble floor. That's when Juhi noticed the flooring and said "Wow…this flooring is amazing…wait a minute…is this…oh my god…this is Dubai's black stone…but how did you get it and how did you know"

Geet walked towards Bauji and could only call him softly.

Rishab straightened himself. There were tears of joy floating in his eyes. "Main batata hoon…when she was in hospital one day we were flipping thru albums when we saw the photos of our Dubai trip"

-----Flashback----

"Wow Bauji…kitni imposing photograph hai…you look so surprised…kya ho raha hai"

"Arre…yeh photos wahan ke palace ki hai. I saw this floor and fell in love with it. You know it is made by special black color marble stone which is available in caves in Dubai. It is extremely expensive due to limited availability. Kaash ki I could have this stone in my house…I know it is probably one of those wishes which never come true but I will love to have this flooring in my kitchen and living area as that's where the heart of any house is."

"Hmmm…aur kaisa hoga if you could have a dream house?"

"Aage garden, piche veg patch, aur…"

"Yeh kya Bauji…dream hai to detail mein batao" Geet said snuggling into Rishab's arms

"Par maine kabhi detail mein socha hi nahin"

"Acha chalo ab karte hain…hmmm let's start with bedrooms and their dcor"

----Flashback ends----

"We fantasized for another hour or so discussing how our dream house will look like…Geet puttar main kya kahoon…tune kaise yeh sab"

Geet cut Rishab in between sweetly - "Yeh lo…isme kya hai…bas aapko acha lagna chaiye….waise bhi agar bache apne parents ke dream nahin pure karenge to kya padosi karenge"

"Aapko pata hai…main to seedha airport se aapko yahan leke aati lekin ek final touch ki wajah se I had wait for two days…chalo na" She dragged Rishab and Juhi outside in the backyard. Everybody followed still in shock and awe.

There was a big courtyard which opened to a backyard. It had a vegetable patch in front followed by fruit trees. There was a sitting area along with a swimming pool, barbeque corner and some hammocks.

In the middle of the courtyard was a tulsi plant. Geet took Rishab and Juhi there and said – "iski wajah se…I had to get it uprooted along with all the things buried with it and got it transferred from Mumbai"

Annie "Iska matlab yeh humara tulsi plant hai"

"Bilkul…how could I leave all the memories buried with this plant….all the pebbles for each sorrow you had buried…all the balls and other toys linked to every happiness…Bauji told me how you and Maan used to bury something on every special occasion - happy or sad- under this plant. I got everything"

Everybody stood their feeling the love. Though it was a newly constructed house but it already felt like home filled with all the love possible. Maan was amazed and proud of the woman standing in front of him. "Itna sab kaise soch leti ho Geet…itna pyaar…aaj phir se dar lag raha hai…do I even deserve the feelings I have for you…kyun ki tum jab pyaar karogi to saari hadein paar karke karogi…you don't have limits to your love…it is boundless"

Slowly everybody was busy exploring the house. Geet entered Maan's bedroom and saw him standing there in the middle. It was decorated in black, white with dashes of dark red to accentuate and build up the mood.

"Hmmm…I hope you liked it. Anything can be changed as everything has been done by KC"

Maan turned to face Geet. He had an emotion playing in his eyes which Geet could not fathom or probably did not want to fathom. He could not stop himself and hugged her tight in his arms. Geet's face was on his chest and she could hear his heartbeat. She was aware of the feel of his body heat which was seeping thru her now. She slowly embraced him and asked "kya hua?"

"Kuch keh nahin paoonga Geet…Please aaj tum khud hi is khamoshi ko samajh lo"

They stayed in each others arms for god knows how long. Their trance was broken by Nisha's voice. They came out of each other's embrace at a snails pace as if none wanted to end this feeling of peace. They had found haven in each others arms.

Maan whispered in her ears "I am finally home"

Geet looked at him and felt a rush of current going thru her spine. His eyes said it all and her heart stopped beating as it felt the deep meaning of those words.
