The film Heroine is a very ambitious and special project for Madhur Bhandarkar. No wonder then that the director is upset with false reports that the movie is inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor.
Though the film has voyeuristic insights into the relaxed morality that often accompanies fame in the showbiz world, Madhur denies taking any inspiration from the aforementioned actresses. He said, "A section of the media think that film HEROINE is based on the life of Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor, this is NOT TRUE, my film is totally contemporary and based in today's times."
Reportedly, Heroine is about a superstar actress with a career on the decline and she is terrified of fading into obscurity. The film showcases the reality behind the world of glitz and glamour that the film stars live in. It gives a glimpse of what goes on behind closed doors of makeup rooms and vanity vans.
Heroine was announced on May 13 at the 64th Cannes Film Festival by UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will star in the film that commences in June and with release targeted for November.
