36 China Town, a suspense thriller with a comic streak, is slated for release on 05 May 2006.

36 China Town, a suspense thriller with a comic streak, is slated for release on 05 May 2006. Produced by Subash Ghai's Mukta Arts and directed by Abbas - Mustan the film features Akshaye Khanna, Kareen Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor along with model-turned-actor Upen Patel, Isha Koppikar, Payal Rohatgi and Johnny Lever. An interesting feature of the film is the screen pairing of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor who are close in real life too. They play the role of two strangers, Priya and Raj, struggling to make a living in a new city. While they are doing that the son of Madam Sonia, who owns one of the biggest Casino's in China Town, goes missing. She announces a huge reward for the son's safe return. Priya and Raj find the son and go to return him and claim the reward. The suspense and thrills start when they arrive at Madam Sonia's place late in the night only to find her dead. They flee in panic leaving their suitcase and foot prints behind.

Akshaye Khanna plays the role of Inspector Karan

Akshaye Khanna plays the role of Inspector Karan who is given charge of the case. What appears to be a simple case at first sight gets increasingly complex as Karan probes deeper and deeper. He finally ends up with seven suspects and stumbles onto yet another mystery behind the mystery that he was probing. The film holds promise but whether it delivers or not will be known only next weekend. Moviegoers will be looking forward to a good performance by Akshay Khanaa, who's talent was largely wasted in the Mukti Films Shaadi Se Pehle. The other moot point will be whether the Shaid – Kareena screen pairing clicks. The two will appear together again in Chup Chup Ke slated for release in June this year. . appears to have been wasted in whose talent was clearly wasted in his last film Akshaye Khanna

In form Himesh Reshammiya has provided the musical score and Aashiqui hai meri... a song he has sung for film is topping the chart. Dil Tumhare Bina is another popular number.
