Finally, it's time to bid good-bye to the girl who (almost) made braces and a fringe a style statement |

Chandigarh, April 30: NO, it didn't seem like a cruel joke. It would've felt like one had the news of Jassi's adieu arrived a year ago. Lately, the show seemed to be dragging its feet but all that is coming to a halt. Jassi is moving on. It's time to roll the credits one last time. Come May 4th and Jassi will bid farewell (dunno if it'll be tearful yet!) on Sony Television. |
Arguably, India's most popular show, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin will come to a logical (?) conclusion. ''Trust me when I say it won't be a tragic one,'' says Deeya of Tony and Deeya Singh, producer-directors for Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. ''Jassi Jaisi... will remain with us forever. Amongst all the shows that we will make and have made, Jassi... will always remain close to our heart. From the memories to the story, the bouquets to the brickbrats, they are all ours,'' Singh sounds nostalgic. But the end, she tells us, was planned. ''We were not the ones to decide when it will end but yes, the story was planned in a way to have a conclusion,'' says Deeya, tight-lipped about what the finale would be like. Just like Jassi's original identity being kept a secret to her makeover moments, this time too they are following the rules. ''It's a nice surprise,'' is all she's divulging.
But a little birdie from the sets tells us there's a huge episode being planned that will bring in Jassi's family (both reel as well as real). Also those associated with the show will get walk down memory lane, narrating their experiences. From the bush-haired, bespectacled, brace-sporting Jassi to the final jazzed up version, there's lots to get nostalgic about.
For actor Mona Singh a.k.a Jassi who ''ate, drank, slept, lived, worked'' like her toothy television avatar, it's a time for mixed feelings. ''It will take me perhaps another three years to believe that the show is over,'' is what Mona had to say. ''I have lived this character every single moment and right from the crew members and spot boys, all call me by this name. This is the show that has given me loyal fans who have stood by Jassi when she was a simple girl, during her tough times in Gulmohar, her relationship with Armaan Sir...They have laughed and cried with her, shared all her sorrows and happiness. It is sad that Jassi will no more be on television screens, but I am confident that the good news that she leaves behind for all her fans will linger on forever,'' Mona remarked.
And the once arrogant Armaan Sir played by actor Apoorva Agnihotri dittos his co-actor's feelings. ''It's hard to believe that the show, which was almost a part of our daily routine, will soon come to an end. We actually lived and looked forward to each day. I will always treasure the show and the character I played for the rest of my life!'' So will those who plugged in religiously each evening!
