It is said that love is the optimal goal of all living creations, but what is love itself? No one knows… Maybe because as humans are different so is their perception about love as well. Love has been known in ages, but the truth is that no one has reached the level where the mystery of love has been solved. Yet we hear time to time fairytales about love, some tragic and some filled with happens. It always makes the reader wish to be loved the way one should be loved; the most amazing thing is that we just do not know what love is.

When we do not get the love as we want, it makes us realize the depth of love we have in our souls and by this experience we learn what to expect from other people regarding love. Separation is the key to know love because the Almighty have hidden a mystery in separation.

This mystery will once again be explored in the human history and this time this task has been given to Maha and Sahil. Two individuals who did not know what love was when they were together, but the hour of separation made them realized the worth of love and changed their lives forever.

Khalil Gibran has said it so wisely that "And ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation."

Firaq is the title of this novel; Firaq means separation and the Almighty have decided that Maha (moon) and Sahil (shore) cannot become one in a physically form; but yet they have been given the opportunity to meet when moonlight reflects over the shore and these hours are cherished by the both, because these are the hours of unification.

Introduction is very exciting cant wait. Here is something I read about love:

Love is not proud, Love does not boast,
Love after all matters most.
Love does not run, Love does not hide,
Love does not keep locked inside.
Love is the river that flows through,
Love Never fails you.
Love will sustain, Love will provide,
Love will not cease at the end of time...
Love will protect, Love always hopes,
Love still believes when you dont...
Love is the arms that are holding you,
Love never fails you.
When my heart wont make a sound,
When I cant turn back around.
When the sky is falling down
Nothing is greater than this.
Love is right here, Love is alive.
Love is the way, the truth, the life.
Love is the river that flows through,
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love is the place you will fly to...
Love never fails you.
Sorry about the long post.

Chapter 1

Maha could not sleep in moonlight. Those nights were sleepless for her since childhood. She could keep looking at the moon whole night and wondering about the mysteries of the night. She always believed in that there will be a mystery for her to solve one day and she just had to wait for that specific moment. Tonight was not a night with full moon, but still she couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about incidence happened in the evening.

She was wearing her favorite shalwar kameez in white and alongside with that she was wearing bangles in silver which again were matching her earrings. She was looking stunning. She habitually did not wear white, but when she did, she truly looked like an angel. This morning on her 25th birthday, she had worn the suit.

Her father, who was employee in a multinational company, had celebrated her birthday from the dawn like he always did every year. When she woke up, her father had already place a card with flowers on her side-table. He had been doing that since her childhood. Her mother was a working woman and worked in a college and was professor in English. She was their only child. She had a little sister, but she died in a young age due to some illness. She had this morning got her blessings from her parents and she was headed towards her first destination of the day.

She was at the graveyard. She had the habit of placing the flower given by her father on her sister's grave every year. She couldn't recall why she had done it in the first place, but she did remember that she was about 9 when she started to do that and since then it had became her habit. She felt that this way her sister was celebrating the day with her.

She was finished studying law and was looking for a job with a good advocate; last one seemed to be very hard. She was out looking for an opportunity in Lahore every single day. Today, on her birthday, her mother had said that she should be home, but she did not want to miss a chance and besides what will she possibly do in an empty house.

They had planned to meet at a restaurant in the evening where they were going to celebrate her. She was already late for the actual time so she was rushing through the masses of people when she heard someone saying "Madam… Your payal." After almost throwing it in her hand, he disappeared. She stood there with her hand with her payal and kept listening to the voice. She had not seen his face properly, but his voice was like music.

She had been away at the dinner in the restaurant and her parents thought that this might be due to the constant search for a job. She had not placed the anklet on the ankle; instead she was holding it in her hand. She kept listening to this voice and was getting lost in an unknown world.

If she felt that the time did not pass from evening to night, then she was experiencing that the night was unbearable. She relived those few second again and again. Each time was she focusing on the missed detail, which could lead to the stranger, but without any luck. Tonight was the first night she was awake with it being a night with full moon. What she did not know was that there was many more to come with time…
