I am enjoying this FF, I just discovered it today and I have finally finished reading all the parts.

The love triangle is interesting, Maan loves geet, but geet loves business and business loves both LOL 🤣

I felt so bad about giving you guys a lousy update yesterday that I thought I'd give you another one today! I'm still a bit lost with inspiration so this update might be a little... blah.

A lot of you seem annoyed with Geet's behaviour & are eager to see a blossoming romance - I won't let you down guys, but have a little patience 😆 I want to build up elements of the story first then introduce romance - remember, the FF also contrasts the relationships of Dev-Pari to Maan-Geet, so bear that in mind too. I really love how enthusiastic you all are though! 😳

Btw - ignore if you're not interested, but Kate looked so beautiful in her wedding dress! 😊 I was trying to avoid the royal wedding but it was hard to because it's everywhere!

Chapter 12:

The engagement party continued for most of the evening, with Geet in a much better mood from the present she had received from Maan.

Maan, however, was disappointed with Geet mistakenly thinking of it as a business phone. She really did mean business.

Despite the misunderstanding, the engagement went on, with the Handas being introduced to a lot of new faces.

At around 7pm, a lot of the guests began to leave one by one, saying the farewells to the families and congratulating the new couples. When the household was finally a bit quieter, it was just the Handas & the Khuranas left.

"I can't express how happy I am today," said Savitri Devi. "My beloved grandsons, engaged to be married. It's what every grandmother wishes for."

"No one is more happier than us," said Rano. "Our daughters marrying into a well respected and prestigious family."

"We'd love to stay a little longer, but we must get back to Delhi," said Savitri Devi. She said goodbye to the Handas, patting Geet & Pari's heads, before walking out of the door.

Dev & Pari exchanged a goodbye smile - Geet noticed Maan looking at her & she also smiled at him. He had gifted her a phone, and an expensive one too. It was the least she could do.

Maan felt elated at seeing Geet's smile - usually, she avoided him. He was glad to think that they were at least getting somewhere.

Two weeks later...

Geet had been enjoying her new phone, using all the latest apps to check on the stock market. She hadn't recieved any calls or texts from Maan, which she had been fearing, because sometimes she didn't know what to say to him.

However, it seemed like Geet spoke too soon. One afternoon, she was in her room, tidying up when her phone rang.

"My phone's ringing," she said to herself, shocked, as if it wasn't supposed to ring. She walked over to the bedside table and peered at the caller ID - it was a mobile number.

"It must be Maan," she whispered. "I can't ignore it... but what do I say if I answer it?"

Reluctantly, she answered the call.

"Hello?"

Maan's breath caught in his throat at the sound of Geet's sweet, angelic voice. He brought himself back down to earth.

"Oh, erm, hello, Geet."

"Hello," she said again, awkwardly.

"How are you?" he asked.

"I'm ok. How are you?"

"I'm good. What are you doing?"

"I was just tidying up. What about you?"

"I'm at-"

Maan was about to tell her he was in his cabin at work, then he remembered that Geet would then start going on about business, and he was trying to have a conversation with his fiancee that didn't involved stock markets and net profit.

"I'm at home," he said quickly.

An awkward silence followed, as neither of them knew what to say. Then Geet spoke.

"Why did you call?"

"Sorry?"

"Don't be offended, but why did you call? I mean, you told me that the phone was for business reasons."

"Yes, but that doesn't mean that we can't talk to each other."

"But why would we?"

"Because we're engaged, Geet."

"And?"

"And don't you think we should get to know each other?"

"But we're not a proper couple. I agreed because I wanted a chance to fulfill my dream, you agreed so you could get your Dadima off your back."

Maan clenched his fist in annoyance. Why did Geet have to be so straightforward? Then, he smiled to himself as an idea came to his mind.

"You know what, Geet?" he said in a fake angry tone. "I was trying to make an effort, but never mind. I have to go."

And with that dramatic effect, he ended the call.

"Geet will feel guilty for getting me annoyed," he said to himself, tapping his fingers on his desk. "And then she'll call me back herself. Perfect."

Back in Hoshiarpur, Geet felt guilty at her cold attitude towards Maan. She put the phone down on the table and sat down on the edge of her bed.

'He's been so nice to me, gave me a gift, respected my wishes,' she thought. 'And how did I repay him? By questioning why he called. He's still your fiance, Geet, irrespective of the reasons behind the engagement. I'm going to have to say sorry to him soon.'
