Shahid Kapoor to do action film directed by Siddha

About eight years ago in 2003, Ramesh Taurani launched Shahid Kapoor in Ishq Vishk, followed by Fida in 2004.

Now, Shahid Kapoor is all set to feature in an action film to be produced by Ramesh Taurani. The film will be directed by Siddharth Anand.

News has it that after Anjaana Anjaani, Siddharth Anand was supposed set to make a film based on Chetan Bhagat's novel 'The Two States'. However, after he moved away from the project, Siddharth planned an action film in which he wanted to feature Shahid Kapoor. Reportedly, Shahid loved the concept and Tips came on board to produce it.

Both Ramesh Taurani and Siddharth Anand remained unavailable for comments.

April 16, 2011, (Sawf News) - Shahid Kapoor has signed on for an action thriller, something his fans have been urging him to do since some time.

According to the Mumbai Mirror, the film will be directed by SiddharthAnand and produced by Ramesh Taurani.

Shahid was launched by the Tauarani brothers in their 2003 production Ishk Vishk. His second film, Fida (2004), was also a Taurani brothers production.

After seven years Shahid returns to the production house to do a completely different genre film.

This will be the first time Anand and Shahid are working together.

Shahid's only action film so far has been Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey (2009), in which he featured in a double role.

The Taurani brothers signed Shahid for a project a year ago, but had been waiting for a suitable script.

Ramesh confirmed to the Mumbai Mirror that the film will start production soon, but declined to give details.

"It is too early though to give any details as nothing has been finalized," he said.

Shahid's other upcoming films are:

Mausam (Post Production) directed by Pankaj Kapoor with co-stars Aditi Sharma, Anupam Kher, Sonam Kapoor and Supriya Pathak.

Kunal Kohli's Next (Pre Production) directed by Kunal Kohli with co-starPriyanka Chopra pre-production

Sajid Nadiadwala's Heer Aur Ranjha (Scripting) to be directed by Sabir Khan with co-star Deepika Padukone.
