MUMBAI: Facing bouncers and googlies from the cricket World Cup, India's Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) have regained their old order in the television audience graph in the very first week after Dhoni's 'Men in Blue' lifted the 'Cup that Counts'. The Hindi GECs mopped up 1209 GRPs, after having lost 108 GRPs in the World Cup's final week run. |

Star Plus has retained its pole position, after being ousted by Colors briefly for a week with a strategy that involved a cut down in ad inventory. Star Plus led the week ended 9 April with 334 GRPs (261 GRPs in previous week), according to Tam data (HSM, 4+, C&S). It added 73 GRPs (gross rating points) and its new 10 pm show, Navya, clocked an average TVR of 3.4 in its debut week. Star Plus also aired Star Parivar Awards on 3 April (Sunday), which clocked a TVR of 4. |

Colors lost 51 GRPs and is back to its No. 2 position with 249 GRPs. Zee TV, which was hit by the World Cup, added 50 GRPs tp close the week with 221 GRPs. The channel launched a new show, Choti Si Zindagi, at the 7 pm band, which got an average opening TVR of 0.9. All its weekday shows saw an increase in viewership and ratings. It also aired two special episodes, which got good numbers. |

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television (Set) regained its No. 4 position by edging out sister channel Sab. Set added 32 GRPs to end the week with 152 GRPs while Sab, after adding 12 GRPs, took its week's tally to 139 (from 127 GRPs). Imagine TV continues to find the going tough, ending with a 12 GRP loss to collect 58 GRPs during the week (70 GRPs previous week). Star One and Sahara One were at 32 and 24 GRPs, according to Tam data. |
StarPlus, which had lost its leadership spot in Week 14, has regained its top post with an additional 73 points in its pocket.
According to TAM (C&S 4+, HSM), the channel has scored 334 GRPs for the week ended April 19, pushing down Colors to the second position once again. The channel's relative share has also moved up from 19.7 per cent in the previous week, to 26.5 per cent in Week 15.

Colors, on the other hand, has lost 51 points during the week, to garner 249 GRPs. Its relative share has also fallen to 19.7 per cent during the same period (22.6 per cent in Week 14).
Meanwhile, at No. 3, Zee TV has added 50 points to its kitty, to bag 221 GRPs during the week, while its relative share has moved up to 17.5 per cent (12.9 per cent in Week 14).
The push for StarPlus primarily came in with the launch of its new show Navya at 10 pm, and its weekend event Pantene Star Parivaar Awards 2 (Sunday, 8 pm), observes a top media executive. For the record, Navya has already made it to the Top 10 list in its debut week, with a TVR of 3.85. It occupies the ninth spot.
"For Zee TV, it was the DID Doubles and its grand finale that helped fetch the extra eyeballs," the executive says.

Back to the fourth spot, Sony Entertainment has gained 32 points during the week, ending up with 152 GRPs. Its relative channel share has also moved up to 12 per cent in Week 15, from the 9.1 per cent that it had garnered in the previous week.
Meanwhile, sibling channel SAB TV has moved down to the fifth spot, despite earning 12 additional GRPs (139 points). Its relative share is up at 11 per cent.
Imagine TV witnessed a loss of 12 points in its GRPs (58 GRPs), while its relative share fell to 4.6 per cent (from 5.3 per cent).
While STAR One and STAR Utsav have garnered 32 GRPs each, their relative shares recorded are 2.6 per cent and 2.5 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Sahara One has managed to garner 24 GRPs, with 1.9 per cent relative share.
And, quite evidently, with the ICC Cricket World Cup coming to an end, DD1 lost 179 points during the week, thereby scoring a mere 15 GRPs. Its channel share has also reduced to 1.2 per cent, down from the 14.6 per cent that it had captured in Week 14.
On the list of the 10 most-watched programmes on Hindi GECs, Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV is at No. 1, with a TVR of 5.7.
Saathiya Saath Nibhana on StarPlus is the second most-watched programme, recording a TVR of 4.96, followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at No. 3, with 4.79 TVR. Uttaran is at No. 4, with a TVR of 4.78.
