It's the time to disco on telly
Item numbers are the rage on big screen and of late this 'item' bug has bitten its younger sister too. Television serials are catching up with this run and are hugely incorporating it in its scripts. As if the bollywood magnitude grandeur was not enough, telly has now taken to hot and racy numbers. And none other than the telly's sexiest babes help the item number pull through the serial.

The latest item number on telly to make people sizzle will happen this week on Star Plus' Kkavyanjali. The Kahaani… couple Shruti (Tina Parakh) and Aryan (Ali Hassan) accompanied by the bitchy Mohini of Kyunki (Tasneem Sheikh) will sway to the Ek Hasina Thi track from Rishi Kapoor starrer Karz.
The dance sequence choreographed by Geeta Kapoor (who choreographed Indian Telly Awards and Star Parivaar Awards 2004) will be a part of Anjali's party.
Says Ali, "Doing that item number gave me a refreshing break." For those who do not know, this isn't Ali's first dance sequence on television. He played Bhola in Gaja Gamini and had a dance scene with Madhuir Dixit.
Tasneem Sheikh sounds hyper excited about the dance sequence. "I met Ali for the first time but we felt so comfortable with each other. The song has scenes of us being close to each other and he lifting me. The chemistry worked just wonderful!," the lady went on.

The lady's sincerity was appreaciable since she admitted that although she loves dancing, she is bad at it. "I want to learn to dance," she confides. The actors unanimously voiced, "The shoot at Sankraman (Kahaani's set converted to accommodate the dance sequence) was tiring but certainly rocking!"
Geeta laments, "I worked with Ali for the first time. He is a brilliant performer. Tasneem amazed me because she is very hard working". Geeta expressed her desire to work with the trio for a stage show. Geeta has choreographed Roshni se for the film Asoka and a sequence featuring Nigar Khan on Sony's Jassi...
Apparently Chetan Hansraj too (Sasha of Kahaani) is believed to do a show on Sony on 10 and 11 June.
The queen of item numbers Rakhi Sawant opines, "I don't think it's a new phenomena on Indian telly. It's been there since long. The point is that people started talking about it only recently. I myself have done item numbers in Kkusum, Kahiin To Hoga and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii before."
Well item numbers might not be a new phenomenon on telly but the so called cultured sari-clad characters doing item numbers is certainly a thing of amazement!
