Pavan sticks to cameos!

Film and TV actor Pavan Malhotra, who started his career on television with Nukkad nearly three decades ago, thinks the medium is not being utilised enough to tell good stories.
"The strength of television is its scope to explore different subjects. Unfortunately, most of the time it is dependent on films for stories and characters," he rues. In such a scenario it's always good to wait for the right role and not lose your focus, even if nothing really worthwhile is offered to you, he feels.
"Right from Nukkad and Intezaar to 9 Malabar Hill and Mrityudand, I have done all kinds of roles. I have also done shows like CID and Aahat to prove my versatility," he elaborates.
After staying away from TV for most of the decade, does he see light at the end of tunnel? "You can see a flash of something good happening here and there, but nothing more," he opines.
Is that the reason why he is sticking to cameos on TV? "I guess so. I did the initial chunk of Laagi Tujhse Lagan because in most shows the beginning part is always better," says the veteran actor, who is playing a father fraught with severe adversity in Chhoti Se Zindagi.
"I am going to be there in the first 20-25 episodes. But it's not a cameo exactly because the real stars of the show are the two little girls and my character will come and go," he reveals.
