On celebrating Gudi Padwa

Gudi Padwa is considered a very auspicious day all over India. In Rajasthan,it is also known as Nav Varsha Samvat. However, this festival is not celebrated with such pomp as they do it here in Maharashtra. When I see the celebrations here,it reminds of the Teej festival of Rajasthan, which is one of the most colourful festivals there. But I've been celebrating Gudi Padwa ever since I came to Mumbai. And why not? A festival is meant to be celebrated.I don't know whether buying new things on this day ensures prosperity or not.If I am not shooting on the day,I wouldn't mind buying something, though.Of course, any celebration is incomplete without your loved ones.A couple of years ago, when my mom was here on Gudi Padwa,I had gorged on some of my favourite sweets.I just love them and it was the perfect excuse to binge on them!
