Balika Vadhu, which took a four-year-leap towards the end of last Friday's episode, will have a blast from the past. Jagya, played by Shashank Vyas in the Colors' prime time daily, has been having an extra marital affair with his medical college classmate Gauri, played by Anjum Farookhi in M umbai. His wife Anandi, played by Pratyusha Bannerjee is unaware of, living in the far-off Rajasthani hamlet, Jaitsar.

Reliable sources have hinted that Gauri will eventually be traced back to be the same girl with whom Jagya, previously played by Avinash Mukherjee, was married off when Anandi, previously played by Avika Gor, was shot, trying to save him from goons in the city. The marriage, however, was terminated by the village panchayat, and the girl never resurfaced in the family's life after the episode.

"Anandi will discover that her husband has been two-timing her and his girlfriend Gauri. Over the last four years, he hasn't been able to tell her that he's a much-married guy. Not only will his family discover his under-the-carpet relationship with the aid of his close friends, but they will also find out that Gauri is the same girl with whom he was forced to tie the knot as a kid," reveals our source from the channel on condition of anonymity.

The high point, we hear, is still being scripted and will gradually develop towards the end of the month. Producer Sanjoy Wadhwa from Sphere Origins and Ashwini Yardi, head of programming, Colors, were unavailable for comments. Writer Purnendu Shekhar, who has been writing the show from inception, says, "I'd not like to comment on this at the moment."

What had happened then
Last year, closer to the final exams in school, it was shown in the soap that Anandi had been shot on her forehead. After recovering from the injury, she was shown as a forgetful person. So, Dadisa (Surekha Sikri) kidnaps her grandson Jagya and forcibly gets him to marry another girl from a nearby village. After moving the panchayat, the second marriage was called off. Anandi will discover that her husband has been two-timing her and his girlfriend Gauri. She's the same girl he was once married to.
