Ahem is only strict and being very ego based because he is angry with himself for being attracted to gopi. We just need to recall the scene when they first met and their subsequent scenes where he was mesmerised by her when she wore green & gold outfit, when she helped him when he had a cold, when he was hurt, when she was hurt, at the dance competition, the seat belt & fan incident, even when she had to do aarti: he didn't want to look at her but once he did he struggled to look away, and when naniji asked him to help her step down the stool. (you can tell friends I'm hooked to GoHem scenes)

So once he overcomes his ego, his anger could easily transfer to wild passion 😉
