Part Seventeen

Everyone was elated that Khushboo was expecting. She was insecure about her weight but Khanak assured her that it would not change anyone's consideration for her.

" Bhabhi Akshau Bhaiya aap se bauth pyaar karte hain. He will not stop caring if you gain weight. He is more delighted about this child than anything else," she stated.

Khushboo listened to Khanak and started to feel relaxed about herself and the pregnancy. The two bahus researched on pregnancy and joined a yoga class at Khanak's college. Khushboo gradually accepted the pregnancy and thus two months passed by.

It was time for the Switzerland trip soon. Khanak realized she would need to go shopping for warmer clothes. Khushboo wanted to buy neutral; color clothes for the baby. They went off for a day is shopping.

" So know Khanak I think you and Shantanu should start planning for a child after I have my baby. It will be so sweet if you had your first baby like a year after me. Then they could play together," Khushboo declared.

Khanak looked at her wide eyed. After seeing how Shantanu reacted when he thought she was pregnant, what would happen if she actually was pregnant.

" Bhabhi you saw how Shantanu had a panic attack when there was a chance I could be expecting a child. I do not think it's the right time for a child," she said firmly.

" Oh right you guys are going to Switzerland. I think we should find you something for elegant to wear. You have been married over a year now Khanak you need to make sure the spark does not die out too soon. I just hope Akshay and me can keep things up after the baby comes," Khushboo quipped.

" Spark? Vaise Bhabhi main aur Shantanu bache ko samla layenge kabhie kabhie," Khanak replied. ( Bhabhi Shantanu and me can take care of the baby sometimes).

Khushboo sighed.

" You and Shantanu practicing to be parents, that will be so sweet. Anyways let's go shop some more," she said pulling Khanak along with her.

Khanak was surprised at some of Khushboo's suggestions but went along with them to make sure not to get her upset.

Khanak did not want Shantanu seeing some of her purchases so she tried to hide them in the cupboard.

" Khanak?," Shantanu called out.

She froze in surprise.

" Oh gosh I was not quick enough. Please don't look in there until after I pack everything," she thought to herself.

She turned to see Shantanu and flashed him a smile.

" Tumari shopping kaise rayi Khushboo Bhabhi ke saath?," he inquired.

( How was your shopping with Khushboo Bhabhi?)

" Acchi thi. Dekho aap ke liye ek sweater bhi liye," she said handing him one package.

He smiled but instead of opening it, he put it down and came close to her and wrapped his arms around her and leaned his chin on her shoulder.

" Khanak tumhe pata hai key eh hamra pelha safar hai desk ke barr shaadi ke baad." ( Khanak you know this is our trip aboard after marriage.)

She frowned.

" Toh kya hua? We went towards Dhulwadi a few months after we got married, then that one trip when we had to get your deal signed, then you came to Dhulwadi a few months ago to bring me back here. We have had three trips already together. The only thing different this time is that we are going abroad," she quipped.

Shantanu pulled back and then turned her around to face him.

" Tum kitni unromantic kyun hori ho?," he asked exasperated.

( Why are you being so unromantic?)

She smiled.

" I am just reminding you of the facts Mr. Shantanu Khandlewal. Yeh hamara pelha safar nahin hai," she declared, ( This isn't our first trip)

" You just are not getting what I am trying to say," Shantanu hissed.

She shook her head and started to walk away.

He pulled her back again.

" Where do you think you are going? This conversation is not over yet," he stated.

She yanked her hand out of his grasp.

" Then my darling husband, please do tell me what the bottom line is?," she inquired as she placed her hands on her hips.

Shantanu was fuming now. Why did women have to be so difficult?

"Look Khanak I just thought this trip would be like our honeymoon. We never really have been on one," he said softly.

She looked at him surprised. First Khushboo was talking about preventing the spark from fading from her marriage and now her husband wanted this trip to be known as their honeymoon. What was with all these different things?

" Shantanu even if we call this trip our honeymoon what is the difference. We are going to have fun anyway," Khanak said nonchantly.

Shantanu did not know why Khanak was not realizing the meaning he had about this. Honeymoon was supposed to be a time of getting to know each other better and having lots of romance.

" Ok Khanak I guess I have to give you a preview of what is to come next," he quipped.

He pulled her close again. He leaned down and kissed her shoulder. Her hair fell covering her cheek. He moved her hair out of the way and kissed her cheek.

" So now you realize the difference between a regular trip and a honeymoon," he hissed into her ear.

She blushed and turned around to bury her face in his broad chest.

She stepped back some moments later and nodded her head.

" Main bus abhi aayi. Try on what I bought you," she said before rushing off.

Shantanu picked up the package and was surprised what was in it.

"Khanak may have mistakenly handed me the wrong package. Anyways I will be surprised when she does wear this for me," Shantanu thought to himself.

He went towards the cupboard to look for the sweater she had bought him. It was read and it fit properly. He put everything back properly and went off to do his workout.

Khanak came back into the room some time later and was surprised to see the packages were now arranged different. She hoped Shantanu had not seen the red nightgown Khushboo Bhabhi had convinced her to buy.

" Oh gosh if he has seen it, he'll keep pestering me about it! I should have been more careful!," Khanak thought to herself.
