Ok I keep seeing everyone mentioning that Katrina has been in bolllywood for more than 8 years and she still doesn't have a hang of Hindi....and how pathetic that is etc etc 😕.
So I really don't understand the big deal here (am I missing something). She is a foreginer who probably didn't even know a word of hindi....got a chance to act in bollywood and somewhere because of her luck she has become a big star and many people love her.
I think she is improving and even dubbs in hindi now (only saw APKGK and TMK) so isn't that a start. I know for a fact that many south Indians who live in India go to school and study Hindi for 10 yrs (for 1st grade to 10th) don't know how to speak hindi..... then why so much fuss with Katrina.
I actually applaud her for coming to country where she is completely new and making it so big here 👏....I would love to see the actors or actresses that are in the top go to another country (say China) and win their hearts and learn their language!!!
Please share your views with me 😃

I want to ask the same question why does it take so many years for one to get fluent into another language?

Well in my opinion if you start learning any language from a small age then you pick it up fast and second in South Hindi is the 3rd language in school. The first language is English(if you go to a English medium school) and the 2nd language is the language of the state you are in (Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu) and 3rd is Hindi (atleast that is how it was in my school 😳) so really you just memorise the textbook and classnotes to get your score in Hindi. Also if you don't speak that language (@home/school/friends) you won't be fluent and you won't even be able to say two scentences properly.

She was fourteen when she started her career first at modelling and then acting it's like why didn't she not learn if she was going to become an actress?😕 I can speak Hindi, Urdu and of course English but it took me at least 1 year to learn😛

I think she stumbled into bollywood by accident, it wasn't a planned move, i heard she was spotted by the director of boom in london and that's how she made her entry into the industry.

and yes, it shouldn't take a decade to learn a new language, especially when you live in the damn country and surrounded by people who constantly communicate in Hindi.

You are very intelligent 😃 Only you speak these languages at your home or your family also knows this languages.
Also when you are working it is difficult to sit and learn a language it will take time. I am taking from experience because I don't know how to read and write in my mother tongue( I can speak very well because I speak that language at home) but I studied in a different state where I had to study their language so it became quite tedious. So if you have the time and can give your full attention then it's not very difficult but you need to devote time 😃

8 Years is good enough time to learn Hindi....If one has the motivation to learn it... I dont think she has any motivation to pick up the language.... If she was losing out on movies bcoz of that then i guess she would have picked it up... What's the motivation now... The people who watch her movies do they care....NO... She speaks Hindi ,French or any Timbaktu language they will watch her movie....

The only Hindi sentence I have heard her talk off screen is ' Mera phone dena please'... So more like 2 words... 😆

I am sure she understand hindi but you feel shy to speak in that language because you think people will make fun of you.
Trust me it will take you a long time to learn a new language especially when you are the only one in the family learning that language and unless you dedicate a lot of time in to reading books, watching movies or take the help of a tutor you won't learn. It's not as easy we think it is.

Yes I agree but what I don't understand is what people want from her...like make a speech in hindi or she should do her interview in hindi??? (and I want to know how many actors these days speak only in hindi for interview 😕)
