No, They are not totally different. The books are quiet different from the show(But The relation, concept, connections all are same like books) and I love the books more than show, although the first 3 books are so awesome but then it's confusing a lil.In books lots of mythology , twin flames concept have been discussed which is a bit philosophical but really insightful. The show is more like BAM, you know lots of twist & turns , drama for TRP sake, a normal CW show for teens, it will give you eye satisfaction like Twilight lol...but books characters & storyline are great than the show one, The first book have been written in 1990 or 1991.Lj. is genius, she has created some very original concept in books.

I'm kinda in between of both. I love the books and the show.

They're both really different except for the characters and the main concept which is a girl who has to choose between two vampire brothers.

The books lean more toward the supernatural side. It's more about vampires, mystical foxes and just other mythical stuff.
Whereas the show is more realistic.

But if i had to choose between the two, i would say the books because i read them first and also because the character have more depth to them than the show. They're deeper and more interesting.

I dunno. Depends on how you see it.
And you might wanna check out the Book Biters thread. =]

I watched the Show first...And i feel in love with it...
Have never read the books but i really wanted to...
But i did an article that the TV show has gone off to a tangent that it doesnt matter if you read the book or not...

Maybe sometime in the future i will read the books...But right now i dont plan to because it might mess up the story line..And cant imagine Elena being blonde....

but i do LOVE the tv show more
