Dear Cvs,
I want to thank you for introducing a unique show like Gunaho ka Devta on Indian Tv. I personally have not seen a show like this before, male-centric all the way with the main protagonist walking the line between hero and anti-hero.
The first few months of the show was absolutely divine, the chemistry between the lead amazing. I loved the unspoken love between the two leads, the lengths they would go to get a glimpse of each other, their eyes speaking what they could not put a voice to. Again the reason for this was the male lead, shown to be a tough guy and yet the moment he lays eyes on the heroine he is all soft and lead by his heart, the contrast between his tough exterior and soft interior was breath taking!
Then we had the heroine, quiet but with an inner core of steel, who knew what she wanted and who she wanted. She made it very clear that she would never ever compromise with her feelings especially when it pertains to her beloved Avdesh.
So I have been perplexed, and I know my fellow GKDians as well, over the story in the last few weeks and where it was leading. In fact I can honestly say the last few WEEKS of January were mostly fillers but again we understood. The demand and nature of the TV as a storytelling medium requires ups and downs to keep viewers interested. The good thing was In between we did see that Arpita managing to GROW as a woman and become more MATURE and strong in her self belief, always in conjunction with her husband. SOME of the scales had come off her eyes. We applauded that, for it is nice to see a character grow with experience rather than remain static. We also applauded when Avdesh became more Avdesh Singh than Bhaiyyaji, all because of LOVE, FAITH and TRUST in his wife, which she also reciprocated fully. Each day, their heart and mind connected more and more till they knew each other implicitly. Slowly we started seeing Avdesh LISTENING more and more to Arpita, showing us just how much he believes in this wife of his, not just her thoughts and judgement but in her as a human being.
However, the track in the last few week is what could be only called an AFFRONT to all that GKD is about - the uncompromising love incomparable to anything else. I think many of us closed our eyes and mind to what it was leading to. Few of us had seen the writing on the wall from the beginning when we were told GKD has some similarity to Othello. Yet I don't think any of us was prepared for what we saw in the last few episodes.
Cvs please answer, what happened to Arpita's GROWING into a mature and sensible woman, who adamantly refused to COMPROMISE her love? granted her character is motivated by selfless love and putting others before herself but never at the expense of hurting her beloved or her marriage. What took place, her accepting another man's indecent proposal (even though the actual deed remains a mystery but we can guess) goes against the grain of her CORE motivation - to be a deserving wife for Avdesh Singh Thakur, to give him all the love and happiness in the world while at the same time making a place for herself in his heart. Already she is beseiged with doubts and self loathing. This is not protecting her love, in fact she had hammered her marriage to peices with her own hands!!
WHY was this path taken? Not only is it demoralising to woman all over, but you are showing that woman are weak enough to go back on their words of love and committment and that someone in this position would take this path. I SAY NO. No woman should ever have to sacrifice herself like this! There was countless ways this track could have gone, one of them would have been her saying something to her husband, especially in the light of their current closeness and that fact she can cool his temper down and make him listen. OR she could have enlisted the help of her Sister-in-Law the indomitable Simple, who can straigten a men with just one look. WHY not have a fun scene where she and simple went and gagged RV up? ANYTHING but what was shown. IT feels like TEN STEP BACKWARD, I refuse to accept that it suits her character. If that was the case, she would have meekly married Papua back in October!!
FURTHRMORE, you are making Avdesh look WEAK unable to grasp the situation. You show the women taking action, distrustful of RV - Bhaoji making sure Panditji keeps an eye on RV, Arpita seeing RV's true reasons for agreeing to the marriage but you keep the hero, Avdesh, in the dark and make him look the fool for taking everything at face value. Yes, he is trying to get away from the Bhaiyyaji persona but surely that does not mean his instinct and judgement of people had gone out the window?!! OR will you show later that having rejected her for her percieved infidelity, he then knows nothing happened and takes her back? WHAT does that make him?!! PLEASE do not go down that route, it will tarnish the love they have!
CVs, it is not too late. Please bring a logical end to this distasteful track asap. Show Arpita confessing all to Avdesh and why. Show him yelling, smashing things but never leaving Arpita or throwing her aside. Even if RV turns up with the mangelsutra to blackmail Arpita or to rub it into Avdesh's face, let them stand united. Even if they separate for a day or two, show them yearning and to be with each other. SHOW Avdesh understanding but NOT LIKING the step she took, show him telling her that her izzat and self respect is more important than the Haveli which is bricks and mortar at the end of the day. MORE stay true to the uncompromising love they both adhere to, the love they will go to any lengths to protect but without betraying one another. Show this as an aberration; show this track with Avdesh saying a woman is more than her MARITAL HOME, her izzat is not linked with what goes on by other members. Better yet take this and show that a woman can be full of integrity and face all problems that come her way by seeking the help and advice of her husband and others. SHE does not have to face things alone or that sometimes walking away does not tarnish the Sasural at all.
CVs, I hope things improve and not drag on for months. Thank you. We love GKD want it to remain unspoiled from it's core concept and not change things to play the TRP game.
To my fellow GKDians, if you want to add anything please do feel free to do so.

Dreamy I think you took words from my Mouth
I don't understand why are the CV's degarding a women's character . i still remeber the scene when she stood up againist her father ( Father Thrashing her) expressing her feelings for Avdesh .
Yesterday episode showed no strength of Arpita
She just gave it up with out a fight
Unbelivable/Disgusting

Hi Swamini,😊
I think they want to show that a woman would go to any lengths to save her husband's families izzat and home. My point is why should she or any other woman? a home is just bricks and mortar and we are not each other's keeper to sort out someone else's mistakes, especially not compromising our value, self respect and body!!!
I wouldn't call Arpita disfusting but she is confused and I guess she feels responsible, because she is the only one supporting the marriage and pushed Avdesh into agreeing with her. Now she feels like she has to save Shikha, the haveli and any other nonsense the Cvs have shown!
So this track needs to be rectified immediately.😊
