There has been a growing presence of Indian English in dialogue and songs.I know it can be very clannish, and the relatives of film-industry insiders have an edge in getting coveted roles in films or being part of a film's crew but If I wanted to watch a English movies, I'll go and watch one, but right now I'm watching a Indian movie with excessive English dialogue.......What the F*#% ??? It's meant to be a hindi movie !! What are todays film directors trying to prove ? 😲

Yes excessive usage is not advisable but then I think whatever they speak on films is exactly how most people talk in their daily lives in Mumbai, Delhi etc.

It's pretty reasonable, I guess. Metropolitan youth speaks more English than Hindi, so its sort of an initiative of getting connected with them better. Because, honestly - nobody likes "main tumhare bacche ki Maa banne wali hun" era dialogues anymore. If its a movie based on slightest of realism, its obvious English would be used by the characters to converse. Even the songs have English verses in the middle, its pretty common.

Actually, I see no problem in using english dialogues. Most kids speak a lotttttaa english these days.

I'll give you an example of myself, me and my "group" of 8 friends speak pure english. We do add hindi words in between but it's like 90% english and 10% hindi and telugu(I live in AP) that we talk when we're together.

So, the movies are also getting along with the kids of today's world. I see nothing wrong in using english lines here and there. 😃

actually one uses a lot of english in daily conversation even in vernac.. i mostly spoke in english with friends.. so using that in a movie is not so odd placed.. but who mouths those dialogs matters.. if its rahul bose.. or perizaad konkona...imran k.. or preity.. etc.. its ifne.. if its johnny lever or boman or sharukh its wierd!!! its not just the director.. the actor is trying to be trendy.. all said.. of course you cant use english in bhojpuri movie!!!😆

It's funny how you posted about the language. What about the culture ? Aren't movies adopting the English culture as well, like someone already pointed out ?
If you can adopt the culture, then language isn't that great an issue. 😆
