Filmfare awards earn huge GRPs for Sony; SAB looks stable beyond 150 GRPs in consecutive weeks.

Rajat Arora | Delhi | February 16, 2011

The overall TRPs of Hindi GECs has seen decline in the seventh week of TAM 2011, though the positions of leading channels remain unchanged. The second most watched Hindi GEC Colors too has experienced the decline in its GRPs and garnered 237 GRPs this week (last week 265).

After a huge jump in last week, the number 3 GEC Zee TV has settled at 220 GRPs this week (last week 220).

At No.5, SAB TV is looking stable beyond 150 GRPs in the second consecutive week. The channel has garnered 153 GRPs in the seventh week of TAM 2011 (last week 152).

Imagine TV has recorded 86 GRPs (last week 100).

Riding on the back of Idea Filmfare Awards 2010, Sony Entertainment Television has managed to widen its gap with sibling channel SAB TV by a significant margin.

Riding on the back of Idea Filmfare Awards 2010, Sony Entertainment Television, the fourth spot occupant in the Hindi GEC (general entertainment channel) genre, has managed to widen its gap with sibling channel SAB TV by a significant margin. The property has scored a peak TVR of 5.17.

According to TAM (C&S 4+, HSM), Sony has added 26 GRPs to its score card, thereby broadening its gap with SAB TV by 27 points for the week ended January 12. The channel currently stands at 180 GRPs, up from the 154 GRPs registered in the previous week. Its relative share for the week has also moved up significantly, from 11.3 per cent to 13.7 per cent.

It is pertinent to note here that in Week 6, Sony was only 2 GRPs ahead of SAB TV. During that period, SAB, at the fifth position, had scored 152 GRPs. Its relative channel share was 11.2 per cent for the week. However, for Week 7, SAB has added just one point to its kitty to stand at 153 GRPs.

Meanwhile, STAR Plus continues its hold on the top slot; it has lost 9 GRPs during the week to stand at 318 GRPs. Its relative share has, however, seen a marginal upswing from 24 per cent in Week 6 to 24.2 per cent in Week 7.

At No. 2, Viacom 18's Colors has lost 27 GRPs and has 238 GRPs in Week 7. Its relative channel share has also moved down from 19.5 per cent to 18.1 per cent in this period. At the third spot, Zee TV has lost 31 GRPs to stand at 219 GRPs; its channel share has also declined from 18.4 per cent in Week 6 to 16.7 per cent in Week 7.

At No. 6, Imagine TV has lost 14 GRPs during the week to score 86 GRPs. Its relative share has also fallen to 6.6 per cent from 7.4 per cent. STAR One, with an additional 6 points in its pocket, is at 41 GRPs with a channel share of 3.1 per cent.

STAR Utsav is at No. 8. The channel's relative share and GRPs have dipped marginally to 2.1 per cent (2.2 per cent in the previous week) and 28 GRPs (30 GRPs in the previous week), respectively.

Sahara One and DD1 have garnered relative shares of 2.1 per cent and 1.3 per cent, respectively.

Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 5.85, followed by Saathiya Saath Nibhana, and Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 with TVRs of 5.54 and 5.17, respectively.

Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Pratigya and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai follow with TVRs of 5.02, 4.8 and 4.73, respectively.

Sasural Genda Phool (4.42 TVR), Na Aana Is Des Laado (4.18 TVR), Balika Vadhu (4.04 TVR) and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (3.95 TVR) also form part of the Top 10 list.

Sony gets push from Filmfare Awards telecast

Indiantelevision.com Team

(16 February 2011 10:45 pm)

MUMBAI: The glamour and glitz of Bollywood is raking in ratings. In its most recent exposure, the Filmfare Awards has given its telecast partner Sony Entertainment Television (Set) a decent 26 GRP (gross rating points) push.

Sony collected 180 GRPs for the week ended 12 February, up from 154 it reported in the trailing week, but remained in the fourth spot behind Hindi general entertainment channel leader Star Plus, second-ranked Colors and Zee TV.

The Filmfare Awards, aired on 6 February, clocked a TVR of 5.2 in the Hindi speaking market (C&S, 4+ years), according to Tam data. The 217-minute show got a reach of 21 per cent while time spent was 53.6 minutes.

The Filmfare Awards garnered better ratings than Zee Cine Awards. Aired on 30 January on Zee TV, Zee Cine Awards had managed a 4.5 TVR and a 19.4 per cent reach for the 242 minutes show. However, time spent on Zee Cine Awards was slightly higher at 55.7 minutes.

Meanwhile, Hindi GECs collectively saw a decline in the ratings by 49 GRPs. Genre leader Star Plus shed eight GRPs, but maintained its lead status with 318 GRPs. Colors lost 28 GRPs to score 237 GRPs, followed by third-ranked Zee TV with 220 GRPs (shedding 30 GRPs). The channel had added 26 GRPs on the back of Zee Cine Awards last week.

Hindi comedy-entertainment channel Sab remained rock solid with 153 GRPs (from 152 GRPs).

Imagine TV lost 14 GRPs during the week as its big ticket reality show Zor Ka Jhataka - Total Wipeout - failed to impress. The Shah Rukh Khan hosted show, which opened with a 2.6 TVR in the previous week, could not manage to attract audience in the second week and its average rating fell from 2.6 TVR to 1.4 TVR.

Imagine TV fell to 86 GRPs. Star One garnered 41 GRPs (from 35 GRPs last week) while Sahara One was at 27 GRPs (last week 28), according to Tam data.
