Abhi says he doesn't have the strength to fight against the society anymore and tells Amma not ot stop him anymore. Runjhun watches Abhi leave and thinks to herself, that she knows that Abhi is conflicted and doesn't know what to do. He has after all been the only man who has understood her feelings and has fought for her against Guddu, and always taken the side of the truth. She says that he's always been there for her, so how can he leave her side when she's going through the worst phase in her life. Abhi hesitates at the foot of the door, Runjhun looks towards him hopefully, hoping he will stop.
The aunts wonder why Abhi has stopped at the door (they call him "chashmish" - four eyes). Even the uncles are worried. Buntu points out to Billo that since almost all of Kannauj is in their house, someone might take her jewelry without them even knowing. Billo goes upstairs to check. Abhi finally leaves and the aunts and uncles breathe a sigh of relief. amma is distraught and thinks that Abhi must have been forced to make such a harsh decision because of his parents.
Rajju tells Mittho and the others to head off, as there's nothing more left to see, but Abhi walks back in. They wonder why he keeps hesitating in and out. Abhi goes towards Amma and helps her to her feet. Amma says that she knew he wouldn't just leave. She brings Runjhun to Abhi so that they can talk.
The aunts and uncles don't look to pleased by the new development. Abhi tells Runjhun that he never thought that their relationship would come down to this. Then again life always throws them in situations where you have to make hard decisions of your life. He says taht what happened today with her was not fair. He says that no one can know the truth of what happened to her because the world doesn't have the ability to see in a person's soul and character. They judge by what they see on the outside, and believe what they want to believe. He tells her that he doesn't like to see her broken up like this, because it isn't fair to her, so he's decided to give the relationship another chance.
Abhi tells Runjhun that he's always taken her side, but this time she has to do something for him. He says that he's always wanted to have the opportunity to be able to walk with her in life's journey,and even today he's ready to fight for her, but she has to stand with him. He says he knows that what happened today has caused enough pain in Runjhun's heart, but he can't go against what his parents wish and dishonor them as well, after all they have raised them, so he wants to ask a favor of Runjhun.
Amma says they will do anything, and pleads with him that he doesn't break the marriage. Runjhun is upset at her grandmother having to plead. Abhi tells Runjhun to look at him. He tells her that he is in a difficult position and they have to live in the world, but to to prove to world so that he can keep his relationship with Runjhun and not let down his parents, he wishes for her to do her medical checkup. He hesitates telling her, unable to look into her eyes properly. Runjhun and Amma are shocked.

She tells him that he wants to show that he's being just to her, but in truth he wants to confirm for himself. She says it would have been better if he'd rejected ehr and left. Then she would have thought that he didn't understand her, which is better than him thinking wrong of her. He says that even if she does the medical test, what is there to keep the world from talking or making stories, then what is he going to do. The world will say that the medical tests were just for show and in the end Abhi did a favor to her by marrying her out of pity. She tells him then the middle road he has chosen will also be a difficult path for him.
She says as it is the first question is always raised on a women's honor and the one who wanted to tarnish her image has gotten what he wanted so what is the purpose of doing a medical test. It would do no good, and even if it did she wouldn't do the medical test.
