i can understand what Kesar and Ragini go through because I myself am dark.

My skin tone is like Ragini but I used to be darker when I was a child. When I was born I had really dark skin and my father said I was someone elses baby..from then on all I endured was torture from everyone even in my family calling me names like " Kalooti, the N word, blackie" Everyone thought I was ugly, and plus I had really bad teeth ( what a good combo🤢)

As I got older I became comfortable with my skin, I used to use alot of fair and lovely, now I use alot of bronzer. Some actresses like Bipasha Basu and Reshmi Ghosh became my idols because there proud of there skin color. Dark skin to me is exotic and sexy, I know tons of guys who love dark skin girls..like my boyfriend! ( AND HE"S LIKE MILK! )

Some people are just rude when they attack others for their skin color, it is believed that if you have darker skin that your poor and work under the sun. It shouldn't matter if the person has dark or fair skin, your personality should matter the most.

Kesar( though she isn't that dark, shes a nice caramel ) has a loving personality where as Shakti who is fair, is a total doosh.

I just wish there were more dark girls, even darker than Ragini, to be better role models for Indian girls. Media uses girls like Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif to brainwash women into what they should look like..I wouldn't want to look pale and boney, its soo boring🤢

Absolutely happens in real life - and in every culture in the world. Darker people are discriminated against in every aspect of life -
I know only a handful of Indians but I find the bias against the darker skinned so inherent in their culture and thought, it is almost scary. They can't seem to see themselves as they really are - various shades of brown! Why can't brown be beautiful?

It's a sad fact in Indian society that fair people are considered to be beautiful, and more deserving of the better things in life. We have a relation who has a son who is very fair skinned and he went all over the place to find a girl equally fair skinned, cos god forbid that a slightly darker girl would be good enough for his 'gora chitta' son.
I've noticed that even the younger generation, some young men try to find a fair skinned wife so their kids will be better looking, and have good genes!
it also bugs me when i see ads for the skin lightenening creams, why are they making money out of brainwashing ppl into feeling lighter skin improves a person? They should be encouraging ppl and saying we are what we are, and learn to make the most of yourselves, and its what's inside that counts, but no.

I don't really know where the fair skin bias in indian culture, really comes from. It could be from when it was part of the British empire. But personally I think its because light-skinned people make a minority in India, so its deemed exotic. Odd but you have the filp side in western counties like the UK, An US where white people (boys and girls) are constantly using fake tan to make themselves darker, an pale white skin is almost as undesirable as dusky skin is in India.
I really can't understand why people seem to despise dark-skinned individuals so much in Indian societies though, that they go to the extent of beating, ridiculing on a daily basis and refusing in some cases to show any affection to their own children.
In the case of Shakti like I said in another post, people really ought to show him sum youtube videos of rihanna and beyonce, and then be told that these two black not white women have about two billion drooling at the bit male fans. I would love to see shaktis reaction to that fact. Personally I think shakti is like a parrot who just harps on his parents beliefs. Cos didn't have a cast bias? I wonder where this bias went when he married arushi?

I agree. There are some darker women who are more prettier than fair women.
