I dont understand why they put paritranaya sadhunam and yada yada hi dharmasya as BGM for wedding. they did the same thing sometime back for engagement or some such stuff! Just because they are all krishna devotees doesnt mean that they should put these lines. Atleast "Karmanyevadikarasye" would be sligtly better suited. A Meera Bhajan or a Jayadeva's Ashtapathi would be much better suited.

Why Bhagawad Gita with that ominous tune for wedding?

Oh! sorry about that!

In today's epi, during actual wedding (kanyadaan) in the background they put two lines from Bhagawad Gita (which was infact told by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in Kurukshetra battle field). these two particular lines go as

"paritrANAya sAdhUnA.n vinAshAya cha duShkRRitAm.h.

dharmasa.nsthApanArthAya sa.nbhavAmi yuge yuge"

Krishna says that it is his duty to protect the good people and destroy the people who do bad deeds. He will do this and reestablish Dharma in each and every yuga whenever it is necessary.

The other sloka is also from Gita:

"Karmanyevadikaraste mA phaleshu kadhachana
ma karmaphala heturbhooh mA te sangostvakarmaNi"

which means that your only have the right to do your duty and not the fruits of your deeds!

The other two are love songs about krishna!

You are right Madzzz

Suk... Paritranaaya Sadhunam is a verse which says
for the well being of good people and for destruction of evil, and to re-establish divine rules, i'll come in every age... this Lord Krishna proclaims to Arjun in Geeta Gyan, when Arjun tries to run away from war reluctant to fight his cousins to death

yada yada hi dharmasya, verse says that whenever religious values are not followed and descriprencies arise in social values, child of Bharata.
whenever irreligion is dominant, at that time I will come to earth. this is God's promise to human race

Karmanyivaadhikaarastye is also a Geeta Shlok which says... think only of your duty, don't anticipate a reward, its neither for you nor is it in your hands. what you can do or have been asked to do is the only thing that is in your hands, it reward is not in your hands....
it gives you strength to perform your duty, because you are not anticipating anything, just performing what has been assigned to you

PS. Please feel free to correct me
