Manish Goyal

Manish Goyal quits Bhabhi

The actor to go on a sabbatical, is writing a script for a film

Reena Thapar Kapoor

Manish Goyal has been feeling like a spare tyre ever since Bhabhi took a leap. The actor is hurt at being pushed around without a steady track, and has decided to take a breather from the show.

Consequently, the show has to manage without an important member of the family. Goyal aka Tilak, who has anyway been missing from the show for a while now, will no longer be part of Bhabhi.

"I've quit the show for the time being," says Goyal. "But I haven't closed all doors yet. The show doesn't have much for me to do and instead of just hanging around aimlessly or being used as a prop, I decided to drop out for a while."

Goyal says that after the leap, his character lacked depth and importance and more often than not, was relegated to the background.

"Recently, a newspaper ran a story on how I'm jealous of the new generation in Bhabhi, as they have more scenes than I do," he shrugs. "That's not true. I've played the lead for a long time, now I know that the story will eventually have to go a step further."

The show is due to complete one thousand episodes soon and Goyal assures that he will be present to mark the occasion. "I will make an exception for that episode," he says. "But apart from that, I have left the show for good."

He has not shot for the serial for over a month now. "I'm not doing any work at the moment," he says. "Right now I'm busy planning a long vacation and also planning to spend time with my family."

Goyal has found another vocation too. He has started writing scripts. "I'm writing a script for a film and another, for a TV soap," he informs. Is he planning to take up direction too? "Why not?" he replies.

As for getting work on television as an actor, he says, "I'm not going to take up just about any offer that comes my way. I'd rather sit at home and wait for that one big offer to come along, which will make full use of my capabilities."

i kinda agree with him (Manish). the writers made him into a weak character who couldn't even see through menakshi's cunning comments. also, it was a bit aggravating to see him being "baby-ied" by the rest of the chopra family like he was some child who wasn't even able to look after himself. i mean Vishu, Shubham and Suhana are still young. the writers should have written him into more scenes and have him i don't know being more interactive with bringing Vishu back to being a "good son" (if he ever was one). Also compared to Kuku chacha - tilak chopra didn't really do much.
