I know I am a newbie here so I hope that noone thinks me irreverent for saying what I thought about the last gala 😛. Please keep in mind this is simply my humble opinion and no offense is meant towards any contestant or their fans. So here we go :

The show started of with the introduction of Karunya and Sandeep with Mini introducing Karu among Karu fans and Aman doing the same among Sandy fans. I thought it was veeeerrrry interesting that Aman said "...kaun banega indian idol PAKKA...woh hain Sandeep!" 😉 Inside scoop anyone?!
Karu sang the first line of "chand tare" then Sandeep sang "I am the best" and then both faced off for "Hum bhi hain josh main!" It was very cutely choreographed and they both seemed at ease with each other. You could tell they got along well the way they play-acted at battling!
Sunil Shetty was introduced and him as well as the Sonu and Anu declared Karu as their favorite. The girl from "ek ladki anjaani si" and the CID guy also said the same thing. It sounded almost like a stuck record...lol...I mean I think Karu is great but if they want to encourage ppl to vote they might want to try something more original coz if anything it might become an irritant and deterrent.

"Dekha na hai re Socha na" by Sandeep
I thought he sang this in his typical style. He smiled a lot but he did miss sur and tempo in places. It was cute and a crowd pleaser. My only crib was he stuck with a sort of safe song. But I guess he wanted to play up his strengths coz now is not the time to experiment. I really appreciated how he humbly and quickly agreed to what Anu and Sonu said he did wrong.👏 When asked to score himself out of 10 it looked like he was thinking whether to say something safe or honest and the he went, screw it just say what he felt so he said 20.😃 I hope no one reads too much into what he said.

Mini kept saying "sangram" over and over again. It looked like she just found out what it meant so she kept repeating.

"Jahan teri nazar hain..." by Karunya
I didnt like this song too much. Karunya sang it really well and he had the most animated expressions throughout yet the song didnt have too much appeal by itself. One of the most charming things Karu did was right in the middle of the song he threw farah a rose saying "farah this is for you" without missing a beat in the song. It was very impressive that he didnt break tempo or miss words in the song while doing that. He did look very nervous though poor thing!! He was very honest about him having classical training as something he has that Sandeep doesnt.

At that point I was just relieved no one said X-factor....another word I completely sick of

"Mere jaisa koi kahan" Sandeep version
Again in his typical style...very cutesy..again he played safe by singing in way that would probably appeal to his fan base...I really felt like I was waiting for something serious out of him that just didnt come. I felt like he sang it in a very generic way and could have done better at bringing the emotions out.

"Mere jaisa koi kahan" Karunya version
This song is proof that Karu can sing softly and tenderly with incredible emotion. So all those who thought otherwise this is a must listen. The song had lines"...tumne mujko gana sikhaya, tere shukriya. Jo mere paas hain mujko ehsaas hain" and he directed it to his parents and the judges. It looked like it was straight from the heart and full of emotion. You could see tears in his eyes. And the way his parents enjoyed the song clapping along, laughing and crying was a moment of pure innocent joy and pride. Frankly I was all choked up with a lump in my throat. I dont think there was a single dry eye there. Amaaaaaaaaazing.

"Hawao ne yeh kaha" by Sandeep
This was again not a good selection. He needs popular songs coz Karu can always fall back on his singing but Sandy cant. I didnt know this song and I know a lot of obscure good songs. Sandeep needs to know that his fans like him singing songs they can sing along to. I doubt many ppl knew these lyrics. His smile was very nervous this time. I felt bad at Anu's criticism because I didnt think he was THAT bad. He got a little teary eyed and seemed a little shaken.

"Jhanak Jhanak" by Karunya
I was truly surprised they got Manna Dey to say a few words. Its a big honor for Karunya. This song is a pure and true classical song and with this Karunya went back to his roots. Some people might find it boring but it was extraordinary singing with a lot of technical details. I loved that he didnt even bother performing or moving around. It was just simply a good singer doing his job. It felt like a final statement Karunya was making. It was like he was saying to the junta "If you get rid of me, do so knowing that I am really good singer. I'll leave with my head high and my dreams still alive"

I thought it was interesting that Karunya smiled and looked like he enjoyed Sandeep's performances but Sandeep just sat and stared (especially during the Manna Dey song). He knew what he was up against and I think it scared him a little. Not to say Karunya wasnt scared either. BUt Karu wasnt scared of Sandeep...i dont think he even regarded him as a threat. I think his fear was towards the public.

Agla kaun??? Honestly I dont even think it matters now. If Sandeep wins good for him but I think even he knows who the better singer is.

And thats what I thought about the performances. If you read all this thanks!!!😃 I am thoroughly surprised at your patience 😉

i was not really impressed by sandeep

not to offend anyone, I rele enjoyed sandy's performance today as he was more confident...I dont see any reason why he wud be under stress...there were times when Amey, Meenal, Panna, Antra, Karu and he was on same stage but he never looked stressed to me any time....even not in the times when judges gave him worst of time, cusring him every time for no reason....and he's coming to this stage after receiving highest votes...neither karu changed in a week to fetch that spot nor junta wud make thier mind upside down.....its just how they are voting for him...just like this...

Anyway, I liked you detailed description but just differ on that point....rest, u deserve 👏 👏 👏

well if you guys see the posts all around the forum to day...you'll see I was right with my prediction. The promotion of karunya back-fired and became an irritant and a deterrent. Its quite unfortunate but I think sony just sealed karunya's fate. I mean now there will be enough people outraged and motivated to vote for Sandeep.
Anyone recall this being similar to a walkout on another show inspiring people to make the not-the-best win?! 😉
