KOMOL HAI!
The 27-year-old favourite screen vamp lets you know why the telly is addicted to her, this time without her twirling those curls
Anurita Rathore
''WHAT'S interesting is Komolika made me very popular with kids despite me playing a bitch!'' she says with a shy, rhapsodic laugh. But then, are they to blame when it's a pretty face, make-up signature style, staring them from TV screens with a tone amazingly histrionic?Urvashi Dholakia doesn't even one per cent resemble the Komolika we know, neither in isposition, nor in tone.

As she continues her talk, you realise her ideas of life, themeaningof her existence and her reason for doing whatever comes her way go well beyond thought. So, despite having worked a maximum of 72 hours at a stretch, she ''wouldn't want to crib''. ''If I want to crib about it, I might as well opt out of the situation. It's that simple,'' she offers, very categoric. Relationships falling apart (she had a runaway marriage, too, which witnessed a dead-end soon after), work pressures and coping with stress (owing to depression, even suicides, like some of the young actors/models we've witnessed recently) are other issues she speaks of with alacrity. ''There's pressure all over; everyone goes through stress too. It's just the dealing of the matter that matters. I don't see reason in complaining because you've to understand the pros and cons of what you are entering into or undertaking and deal with it accordingly,'' Urvashi reasons, jumping up on her bed, visibly enjoying the 'life talk'. ''Oh, it's important to understand life around you — people, situations, circumstances — and act the bestyou can.'' she adds, as a sum-up to of her opinions.

Currently busy with a daily for Sony, ''to come up in March sometime'', she's excited about Rishto ki Dor, a story about a young woman married to a man having three sisters. ''It's about family, but not a saas-bahu drama. The plot is interesting: I'm playing the wife who wants to be a wannabe, wants a rich, happening life, in the pursuit of which she has an extra-marital affair too,'' she reveals, adding, ''And I'll be seen in dresses! No wrapped-up-in-traditional-dress business.''

Being recognised as Komolika sealed her rising-to-fame story. But that called for a lot of sacrifice. ''I had to give up on attending to my boys (twins) who needed a mother around. My social life was over. ''But then, I'm glad my parents have been there for us. Besides, Komolika is who made me somebody known and recognised,'' says the 27-year-old mom of 11-year-old boys. Are there any comparisons between reel and real life? ''Ah sure, people would expect me to be as wicked as Komolika but be pleasantly surprised,'' she flashes the charming smile. Her role in Jassi Jaisi... has been an interesting journey as well, which started off with ''my requirement to act in just four episodes but I've no idea how my character in the serial has continued''. So, what else is she acting in? ''A mom-daughter-actor, an aspiring producer,'' she lists in what seems a rehearsed idea. ''I do wish that people give me credit for having the brain to give them something good. For the betterment of our industry, if we don't stand up, who will. And unless I feel like doing something really, I don't take it up,'' says Urvashi, citing how she kept away from anchoring for many years only ''because I felt the idea of speaking to a camera alone, without reactions from the other end, is so drab''.

And does this Komolika value domesticity? ''That's one of the most important things, it's the root you come from after all,'' says this Cancerian, who loves her private space and time spent in the company of music. For more relaxation, ''socialising and clubbing'' are always there.
