Chapter 5

Ahem felt that blood had been sucked out of his body. He had been badly hurt in his leg,but Gopi! She had been converted into a bloody pile of mass. In trying to save him from Anita's and Umang's blows,Gopi had taken the entire impact of the blows on herself. Jigar was holding his hand as he sat opposite Gopi in the ambulance. She was lying on a stretcher and the doctors were poking various wires and injections in her body. Ahem had gone numb. Just then Gopi opened her eyes and asked the doctor if her husband was alright. A tear rolled down Ahem's cheek. The doctor gave her a shot which made her unconscious.

The ambulance was on its way towards the hospital,Ahem continued to stare towards the figure lying opposite him covered in a mesh of wires. Doctors had informed him her condition was critical.

He remembered the past and his heart broke. He had the most wonderful companion and he had wasted the time he had with her and today he was at a stage where she would leave him forever. He wished he could reverse the time and spent more quality time with her.

They reached the hospital and a sobbing Ahem Modi was rushed for check-up. He was sedated as he sobbed when they checked his leg. When he got up,he realized he had got a fracture in his leg. He asked the doctor about Gopi and found that her condition was improving.

Ahem was dying to meet Gopi.He often dreamt that Gopi in a green lehenga would walk upto his room,kiss his forehead and wake him up.Then they would make love and live happily ever after.Sometime he would wake up frightened when he dreamt that Gopi had passed away or married somebody else.
